Arrival

Wise from experience, this year we had planned for months and months and rented a cabin by the sea, just outside of Gothenburg. Here we all congregated, eventually, on the fourth of July: Jon the conventional general, with Tribs, Jinx and Jox from the UK (none of them English), matZ and Penta of course, as well as me and Majzan the locals, plus Arestion from just out of town; also the northerners eo and Mira who brought the über-lexxian Splarka, and the midlanders in Olov's car, ie Tommen, Jennix and Howler -- and the indomitable Jooon. Kryddko and her loveslave Korona were there too.

Shopping for food and alcohol, unpacking and stowing of gear, going walkies at the seashore, erecting tents, and finally settling down for a bit of barbeque and Jon's excellent potato sallad. Wow what a lot of talk! not to mention mosquitoes. It's lucky the cottage had a verandah, we would never have fit inside the little house. Tribs must have been horribly reminded of McLexxCon...

It's great fun meeting the lexxians again. Amazing how these people one meets once a year or even less often feel so much like family. They share interests and sentiments, and disagree about things too, and have a similar outlook on life. One can talk to them -- and do other things too...

Comings and goings

After a bit of a bleary morning, some of us decided to go into town and do some more shopping. Good weather made things easier. Kondomeriet is always a hit, even if Shock is turning more and more mainstream. Next year we might be able to go to Haga and Dolores... SF-bokhandeln is a must too, especially with the new Harry Potter book on sale.

Back to the cabin -- where we actually watched some LEXX! After Jooon had fiddled with Jon's cords, we were able to watch IWHS, in colour. Gosh, the miracle of technology. But not for long! We soon headed back to town for a nice meal at Restaurant ?. Yep, that's the name, ?. And yummmm was it good. And it's right next door to Poseidon too, where we went for a post-prandial walk and traditional salute.

After some slight hitches and more comings and goings, we all went back to the cabin once more -- hooray the heroic drivers! -- where things quickly spiralled out of control into cuddlefests on the couch, greatly helped by tequila. At least that's my version of events. I'm not sure what the others did, but I do remember Jooon and matZ did Carl Bildt in stereo, to the consternation of the non-Swedes; there was a great deal of trading of eo's dog-collar, and of eo himself and Jinx's lint, plus Splarka all over. Jennix was in there somewhere too...

Departure

Sad but true, Lexx-o-Rama 2003 ended on the sixth. It seemed impossible, but we got the house cleansed and cleared and looking like we had never been there. But we had, and we were, for when the midlanders had left (sniff!), everyone else waited around while the men with the toys got ready for the big annual meeting of the just-formed official Lexx-o-Rama club. Golly, we now exist even in bureaucratic space!

But finally Penta had had enough and offered to drive some of us back to town. So we left the remainder waving good-bye to us and that was it. Until next time (Gadget), next time...
