Lexx-o-Rama 2002
-- the legend continues --
For the fourth time in the history of the world, lexxians descended on the Swedish city of Gothenburg for a weekend of extreme socialising. This time, it was preceded by months of non-planning, to make events more spontaneous and consensus-ruled. All we had were two flats, with eight beds in all...
First came Milk-boy, on Wednesday. How to entertain a Milk-boy? Luckily, that was Arestion's problem, as she was the one who housed him. But on Thursday I took him on a tour of downtown Gothenburg, in representative rain and fog, to look at the city library (ooooh) and the bland-ish goth shop (aaaah).
Friday 5 July, commencement of festivities. \Fredrik, a.k.a. lill-Fredrik, was the first to arrive but he declined immediate greeting and had to wander the city alone until noon, when the Umeå(and surrounding areas such as Luleå)-people arrived by train. Lots of people disembarked, lots and lots, and then, there in the distance, we spotted the unmistakable hair of eo, a flaming beacon of lexxitude! With him were Svart, now minus a lot of hair but still his very cool self, Mira (at last!), Briseis and MantRa in splendid gothiness, and yet another Fredrik (McDrill) who carried a gallon of home-made wine.
After refuelling at a Chinese restaurant it was time to take possession of the flats. Local lexxians were already there, the inimitable Kryddko and her friend Johan, and Majzan. The mid-Swedes Tommen and Olov finally arrived too, having driven from Jennix's place in Uppsala in the morning. Other late-comers were Bumbi, Pentagram, Kumatjan, Arestion and matZ. People kept coming and going at a tremendous rate and I'm sure I've forgotten some. Sorry.
Two flats with eight beds, yes, but also a whole lot of floor space, so there were no problems storing everyone. It was quite reminiscent of McLexxCon, in fact, with all the lolling about on flat surfaces and on other humans. Kryddko brought a DVD player, and there was a whole stack of LEXX DVDs to satisfy our need for Bean produce. When matZ had a stroke of genius and rented a VCR, we even got to watch some s4, such as "The Game". Woohoo.
Evenings, or rather nights, were filled with alcohol and weird conversations that I myself missed out on, having a nasty headache. Apparently, women are likened to frogs and rocks, that have inflatable feet because how could they otherwise move about? (By increased competence of flowing water and by mass wasting, that's how! geo. ed.) There was also an abundance of soft toys of various kinkiness, and MantRa brought his snappy gloves and LEXX props: a Mantrid drone hand, and a tongue. Ewwww! (That's a thrilled ew.)
Saturday 6 July, we went downtown for shopping. That is, back to Shock for the third day running. Stripey tights, and shoe-laces were the big items with lexxians. eo and MantRa got bracelets as well, of different hardness. The shopping spree continued to Kondomeriet (the sex shop) and SF Bokhandeln (books), before taking us to a coffee shop for some well-needed food. The goths attracted another of their kind, very good-looking, and brought her back to the flats.
Time for a walk on the town, the traditional visit to Poseidon! People dressed up and made a big occasion of it. Pentagram and Svart in suits and sunglasses, MiB lexx-style. Bumbi in mail-shirt, long black coat, and Kai-hair. The goths in really gorgeous outfits. Milky as kinky Pippi Longstocking... Oh-my-cod. Too bad my new, very simple camera's flash died.
The weather wasn't as fantastic as last year but at least it didn't rain. It was good enough for us to hang around Poseidon for quite some time, together with a bunch of bikers doing noisy stunts by the city theatre. No serious whipping this time; instead there was kissing. Milky managed to kiss just about everybody (except four), and I got to kiss MantRa, woohoo! Some of us got a little over-inebriated and entertained the others with surreal dadaist interpretations of Taube songs.
This year's motto: Ich bin Laden!
Sunday 7 July was really just an extension of the Saturday. Why go to bed when we have to get up early anyway to vacate the flats? Some of us got some sleep, but that didn't seem to make much of a difference. It was like a scene from "Twilight" mostly.
At 1100hr we had to leave and boohoo, say good-bye to people. It was a prolonged good-bye, stretching out over the whole day. The Umeå crowd left at 1700, so we had time to wander about the city, scaring little children and soaking up some sun (or not). Then, finally, it was just Milky and I left and we went back to my place for some rest. For three more days... filled with LEXX, shortbread, and Kink In The Hallway (good one, Luna!).
Only 360 days till we all meet again...
