THE DOG SHOW

The Thai Ridgeback Dog was judged at Sunday 14/6.
The judge was: Mr Hiroshi Kamisato from Japan.

There were nine TRD at the show; three males and sex females. They all were good breed representative and everyone received 1 prize in quality. The dogs had good manners and made good promotion of the breed. The breed did a great success and everyone I talked to got very found of the breed.

"Vilma" won Best of Breed (and of course I was very happy!) and "Kung Fu" won Best in Opposite Sex! Both also won the title; World Winner-98. One more title was distribute; Junior World Winner-98, and the proud winner was the male in the junior class: "Taewada".

Pictures from the show

- Why don't they ever have meatballs as prize instead?!..
BOB was won by, a hungry, "Vilma" and I (Yvonne) is the happy handler/owner!
The judge is holding in his hand two prizes; BOB (red/yellow) and a very nice special prize from the Japanese Kennel Club (lilac/white)!

- Please, can't we exchange the prizes for some candy instead?
BOS was won by the experienced (but also hungry?) "Kung Fu" from the USA. Showed by his owner John.

JWW-98 "Taewada", well showed by his co-owner Maureen. (Maureen was very happy of the win even if she doesn't look like it at the picture!...)

- Is it alright now?
"Axo" with his hard working owner Dan.

- If I run well beside you, do I get a candy afterwards?
"Ami" keeping a good contact with her co-owner John-Sigve.

Both bitches in the open class; "Magic Light" (to the left) & "A'killa", with their owners.

- How do you think I will manage to reach the candy, if you keep holding your hand over there?
"Muddler", trying to hypnotize the hand of her co-owner Debbie.

"Ronja" with her owner Nadine.

Here you can see all three winners of the titles World Winner-98.

"Kung Fu" seems to be very pleased with his title, doesn't he?

The judge

The judge for the Thai Ridgeback Dogs at the World Dog Show-98 was Mr Hiroshi Kamisato from Japan. I didn't know anything about him, but I was told that he was a breed specialist! He has great experience of the breed and was one of them that wrote the FCI-standard for the breed! Unfortunately, he didn't speak English and an interpreter helped him translating his comments. He was very careful and checked all the dogs. He seemed attach great importance to the movement of the dog.

The judge looking at Vilma´s teeth (or did he wanted to see what she had for breakfast?... ;-) )

The dinner

Asko & Marie Lindberg had reserved a table at Saturday evening for a "thai-dinner". The show was a perfect opportunity to arrange this because a lot of thai-fanciers from all over the world was planning to come! I was really looking forward to take part of everyone's experience and discuss the breed with these experienced breeders and owners, and I didn't get disappointed!...
18 people were taking part of the dinner; 2 from Finland, 7 Swedes, 2 from Norway, 3 from Germany and 4 from the USA. It was a great evening and we heard a lot of exciting and amazing stories about TRD!..

The guests at the dinner, from the left; Maureen's mother, Debbie C., John C., John-Sigve B., Dan J., Asbjorg B., Mikael, Berit E., Marie L. (hidden), Anette W., Elisabeth (hidden), Hannu K., Nadine C. (hidden), Angelika C., Yvonne K. (hidden), Asko L. and Maureen P. The photographer, Josefine E., was also a guest...

Gossip from the dinner;....

...Maureen brought her TRD "Taewada" to the lobby of the restaurant, and this was genius! We all knew were to go and you couldn't miss the others!...

...Maureen chocked me with her story about a TRD which when he was left alone, searched for all ladies (!) underwear, and then spread them all over the room! (horrifying!... but Asko seemed to be pleased, wonder why?!.. ;-) )

...John chocked me when he told that he actually seen a TRD climbing (!) up in a tree, catching birds!...

A little of everything

  • "Kung Fu" is really a suitable name for him. At the plane from the US he forced his way out of the crate, and walked among the other dogs, teasing them!..

  • Three dogs did die at the show. Two of them died of the heat (they were locked in a car - which were standing in the sun!..). And one puppy was killed by a large fighting dog...

  • I saw the first TRD imported to Russia. She was blue coloured and from Thailand. She didn't take part of the dogshow, the owners just brought her with them.
    The first TRD in Russia!

  • After a long successful day at the show, we all went for a "banquet" at the McDonalds! (We didn't find anything else...). And Vilma celebrate with a Cheeseburger!... Instead the big party took place when we got back to Sweden. My family and friends had arranged a surprise party with balloons, cakes and champagne! It was great!

  • Finally I would like to thank my family and friends, they are all part of the success! Special thanks to Anette Wallen and Josephine Erlandsson who encouraged me with their support and help! Thank you all!
