Water in Lerum's municipality

We have interviewed a man, who works in a water-purifying plant in Lerum's municipality. We asked him a couple of questions and he gave us the answers. These were the questions:

· Which is the daily water consumption per person in Lerum's municipality?
· Which is the yearly water consumption per person in Lerum's municipality?
· Who are the biggest water consumers (the industries or the households)?
· Are you worried about the water resources and the water quality in the future?
· Where in Lerum's municipality do you take the water?
· What do you do with the ooze from the water?

These were the answers that I got:

· The daily water consumption per person in Lerum's municipality is about 227 liters.

· The yearly water consumption per person in Lerum's municipality is about 83000 liters.

· In many other municipalities there are a lot of industries using more water than the households. But in Lerum the households actually consumes more water than the industries as there aren't so many industries here.

· The only place in the municipality that could be disquieting is the gravel pit in Gråbo. In this gravel pit there is subsoil water, and all the people in Gråbo is getting their water from here. The problem is that someone wants to start making sand of the gravel in the gravel pit.

· All the places in the municipality are getting their water from many different places.

The biggest society in the municipality is Lerum (the society has the same name as the municipality), which get its water from two lakes called Stora Stammsjön and Öxsjön.

From the biggest waterworks Öxsjöverket, water is pumped to Stenkullen, to wells in Floda and also people in Tollered get their water from Öxsjön. The people in Annekärr get their water from a quite big lake called Mjörn. In Sjövik there are subsoil water in wells. Gråbo has subsoil water in the gravel pit and also Skallsjö has subsoil water.

· The ooze that is left when the water is purified in the water-purifying plant are sent to Hultet. Hultet is a dump.

In Lerum's municipality there are five waterworks', five water-purifying plants, seven cisterns, ten "pressure-intensification-stations", 39 "sewer-pump-stations" and 526 kilometers water main.

This is the biggest waterworks in Lerum's municipality.
