Perfect Blue

Type: Movie
Description:
Psychologial thriller in the present. About a popstar who quits her band and starts acting.

Karja's comments:
Very interesting film. Innovative for an anime - maybe not all that innovative for a regular movie.

Pokemon - The movie

Type: Movie
Description:
Guy trains nice pocket-monster, gets invitation to competition (original...), gets followed by the jealous "evil ones", and everything yes. You know.

Treefinger's comments:
Not original, but anyway... Dunno why Pikachu is so popular, the cat is way cooler

Porco Rosso / The Crimson Pig

Type: Movie
Description:
After WW1, the flying aces of the Adriatic have a hard time finding employment for their skills. Some join the new fascist regime, but most would rather become air pirates robbing cruise ships. Some die-hards refuse to give up their ideals and hunt pirates for rewards. Main character Porco Rosso (prob. pun on Red Baron) swiftly establishes his adherence to said ideals by rescuing a bunch of young girls (fifteen, no less!) after their abduction by notorious air pirate Mama Aioto. Add beatuiful three-time fighter pilot widow singer, chivalrous (evil) American pilot/actor/president-wannabe and necessary able Miyazaki girl, stir well.

Treefinger's comments:
*sob*, I can't help it, really! A masterpiece! You'll be a swine saying that this movie ain't a fat success! The girl closely resembles Nausicaa, Mononoke hime and the girl in Laputa and that enhances the movie a bit since you can think back to the other Miyazaki movies and just smiiiillleee, this one is not riding piggyback on Miyazakis other successes, this one is among the best of them! Mafia-Porco is so coooool. "*kiss* ... *thud*"

Quest's rating:
Quest's comments:
This is a lovely film noir: "A pig's gotta do what a pig's gotta do." It is a continuous fascination to me how Miyazaki can be such a master at the art of European movie concepts. And how, how is it possible to combine this with both a wonderful playful humour and a spirited adventure?

Porco Rosso is less meditative than Miyazaki's other movies, more in the spirit of Castle of Cagliostro,

Project A-ko

Type: ?? episodes
Description:
A-ko and B-ko are two small girls (possibly 14) with superpowers which have to go (or run) to school every morning and being subject to C-kos different challenges (large robots).

Treefinger's rating:
Treefinger's comments:
humm, amusing at times, exaggagerated most often and quite repetetive. More thought as a humour series than a normal serie, could have been more action and less yelling.
