Which team will win the League?
Come on Helsingborg!
With two games remaining there are three teams
left fighting for the glory of winning Allsvenskan.
Except for Helsingborg, my favourite team from the south
of Sweden,
the struggle includes Hammarby and AIK which both
are from the Stockholm region.
These three teams show two different approaches to football.
The defense of AIK has been very succesful with only 15 conceded
goals in 24 matches but they have only scored 24 goals.
Security seems to be more important than sport entertainment.
Hammarby and Helsingborg have both a tradition of positive
attacking football which is giving their fans a good value for
their money.
Let´s hope that the negative football of AIK won´t give them
the victory this year.
We will know the outcome on Sunday...
IFK Göteborg 0 - Helsingborg 1
Helsingborg won a crucial game yesterday which will give
them a unique chance to win the league if they continue to
produce solid performances in the last two games and if they
have a little luck.
The former champions IFK Göteborg faces a scary end to
the season. They are now near a possible relegation if they
don´t start to win their games. It would be a shame to
achieve that little with such an experienced and expensive team.
Euro2000 looks like heaven to me!
Bulgaria 0 - Sweden 1
A marvellous goal by Henrik Larsson (Celtic)
A difficult match on a rainsoaken playground.
Bulgaria was the better team in the beginning
but the Swedes took slowly control of the game.
The Bulgarian team lacked good tactics and motivation,
of which the Swedes had more than enough and thus
they won the game deservedly. Sweden had an outstanding
defense and Stefan Schwarz (Valencia) was the man of the match.
Euro2000 started with a Big Bang
Sweden 2 - England 1
Andreas Andersson 31 Alan Shearer 2
Johan Mjallby 33
The first qualifying match of Euro2000 was
a nightmare for the self-confident English team.
The English Lions looked like toothless beasts
when Sweden finally showed that they´re back
at the top with the help of a mix of old
skilled players and new hungry ones.
The veteran Roland Nilsson and his three
companions in the defense limited the space
for Owen and Shearer who were almost invisible for
most of the game... After an early goal by Shearer
England seemed satisfied and stopped playing
at their best. Sweden scored two quick goals
and then they took control of the game until the end.
And Paul Ince was awarded a red card.
Fredrik Ljungberg was the man of the match.
