BIOGRAPHY

THE BEGINNING....
Fimpen and Stammis where in a local punkband, but they didn't last very long. Ruthless and Fimpen met over the internet they discussed Ruthless former band "The Rövstjaerts" and Fimpen wanted to play the guitar on our demo, but "The Rövstjaerts" disbanded later on. Fimpen and Ruthless discussed to start a new heavy metalband, but time passed by. Our very first jamming session where in spring 2002. Ruthless, Fimpen, Stammis, Stenberg and a local friend called Dexter where at a School to have a free lunch and we ended up in the cellar, we played "Imperial March", the famous Star Wars-tune and had a great time. Some weeks later Ruthless and Lorian met at a party and they discussed beer and metal in general. A couple of months later we all got together and decided to start a metal band, The influences where wildly spread, Death, Black, Doom, Heavy & Thrash metal mostly. Our early trainingsessions also featured guitarist/vocalist Stenberg, but his lack of interest in the band was Lorian's fortune, Lorian was recruited in the Autumn/Winter of 2002. In the beginning we played covers mostly, our early favourites where: Sepultura - Troops of doom, Metallica - Whiplash, Metallica - For whom the bell tolls & Sodom - Remember the fallen. We played them without a vocalist, we just couldn't find the man for the job, Stefan "Snesnasen" Kristiansen was a name that circulated but he wheren't recruited for several reasons. Erik 'Big papa' Wass was another name that where on the list. But we lost out local were we used to play. Another local drunk named Dexter, yes, the same Dexter that jammed with us in the beginning later sung during a jamming session, but he never became an official member.

THE WEEKS BECAME THE MONTHS....
As said before, We lost our rehearsal room and we had no place to practice. Months passed by and nothing happened. Neither where a vocalist or a local to be found. But we agreed to take the name "Profane" after lots of discussions. Other names that we thought about where: "Born to be hated" & "Hellfire", but we ended up with "Profane".

PROFANE STRIKES BACK!

After a lot of beerdrinking madness over the summer Profane got their old rehearsal room back. But another setback struck the Profane camp, Our bassplayer Fimpen got a some personal stuff to keep up with, So we are considering wheter we are going to keep him even though he can't play with us for the near future or if we will replace him. Our guitarist Jim Ruuth has recently started taking guitarlessons to improve his guitarplay, which has taken his guitarplay to a whole new level. We have recently (Autumn 2003) tried out a new vocalist called "Chrisse", no prior band known...If he will become a permanent member will be decided in the near future.

WINDS OF CHANGE
The wind of change has blown over the Profane camp. Chrisse who tried out as the vocalist for Profane has left the camp because of his lack of interest in the band. A new vocalist has been recruited. Erik 'Big papa' Wass who tried out earlier is back in...

THE STORM COMES DOWN...
As time passed by Jim Ruthless and Mikko Lorian got sick of the uninspiring attitude of Stammis and Fimpen. We thought that they held us back when we where striving forward. We have planned this breakup for months but we couldn't go through with it because Stammis had the key to our rehearsal room. But we finally got a new rehearsal room and we didn't spill more time so Ruthless and Lorian kicked out Stammis and Fimpen, we also decided to dump our old name Profane because we didn't want to have anything to do with that unprofessional project that Profane unfortunately was. We haven't decided our new name yet. And our old vocalists Chrisse and Wass was instantly out of the picture, they had no major interest in metal music and their voices was below average. We will recruit a vocalist when we can find a decent frontfigure with the right attitude toward the bands interests and with a heart that pounds for metal. We aren't going to hurry the decision because it's a very important piece of the band and we don't need a vocalist while practicing songs and writing material.

THE SPLIT
Profane got split in two bands, Mikko Lorian and Jim Ruthless moved on and the former members Fimpen and Stammis did the same, they recruited a guitarist called Micke Andersson when Jim Ruthless left. The decision to recruit Micke Andersson without discussing it with Mikko Lorian was to much for Mikko, he wanted to have equal power in the decisions of Profanes future so he decided to join Jim Ruthless in his new project. Stammis, Fimpen and Micke Andersson kept Profanes old rehearsal room, rumours say that they are recording a demo at the moment, but as we all know that would probably be a quite sloppy recording with no real thoughts behind it just riff over riff, as on the horrible recording that they recorded at home. Talentless shit! Wheter they are going to keep the name Profane is up to them, we don't want anything to do with Profane.

CHAPTER ONE

Two months before christmas 2003 we got 4 hours / week in e-fyrans rehearsal room. And new members had to be found immidiately. Jonas Wikberg an old friend of Jim Ruthless was contacted right away because he was recently kicked out of his band even though his guitarskills are truly amazing. He was an old neighbour to the Rövstjaerts former vocalist Per-Ola Nilsson so Jonas Wikberg, Jim Ruthless and Per-Ola Nilsson often got together, played a few songs while drinking lots of beer, those where the days!. Anyhow Wikberg is a relative to the legend PJ Wikberg known from the metal band "Squetters" that once appeared on Swedish television back in 1984, they released a LP back in the days of heavy metal! So Wikbergs arrival to our band will be a huge step in the right direction. Wikberg has played in a couple of local bands the last years and he is a driving force in the local underground. Ruthless and Wikberg has collaborated earlier writing a few guitar harmonies, recorded a few covers including Metallica - Battery and Megadeth - Hangar 18 and lets not forget the classic recording of "Tunnan och Moroten's" - Bajs i bastun together with "The Rövstjaerts" former vocalist Per-Ola Nilsson. That recording was unfortunately destroyed but it will live on in our memories. At this time we where three guitarists and no bassist, drummer or vocalist. So the natural step for us was to let Mikko Lorian take over the drumming when he was a more talented drummer than Stammis and he always wanted to play the drums instead of the guitar that he picked up during the Profane days.

BACK ONLINE!!! (Okt/Nov 2003)
When Profane collapsed Jim Ruthless the webmaster of this site decided to pick down our official homepage until our new formation was back on track. The site is now updated with lots of more fact as you can see and the section "Former members" are added with our old members Stammis and Fimpen. Jim Ruthless also tried to get in contact with an old friend named Rickard Rocker. A couple of months earlier; Jim Ruthless tried out for RIckard Rockers metal band, they jammed for a couple of hours and Rickard Rocker asked Jim Ruthless to join his metal band that was quite known locally and they had played a lot of festivals around. But Jim Ruthless turned them down to pursue his work with Profane. Jim Ruthless mentioned his plans about a new metal band. Rickard Rocker was interested. But that was almost a year ago when Profane was still going strong. Jim Ruthless and RIckard Rocker lost contact but now when this new project are reality Jim Ruthless tried to get in contact with Rickard Rocker but unfortunately his mobile-number was changed. We hope to get in contact with him soon because he is our first choice, to get a such talented musician in all fields would be a huge step forward. We'll have to wait and see what will happen with those plans. Our first rehearsal starts this week unfortunately without Rickard Rocker but Mikko Lorian, Jim Ruthless and Jonas Wikberg are ready to give it all up for the new band.

KEEP IT TRUE! (Jan 2004)
After a shorter rest from the band Mikko Lorian and Jim Ruthless decided to jam once again. Months has passed since WIkberg originally joined our troops. But as time passed we rehearsed less and the frustration grew upon us. Wikberg couldnt practice as often as we wanted so he left the band, mostly because the distance between his home and the rehearsal room was long. So Mikko Lorian and Jim Ruthless decided to give the band another chance and we met up once again in the rehearsal room after weeks of silence. We jammed and the spark was once again found. We decided to recruit member as soon as possible to make the band complete. Our old guitarist from the Profane-time was asked to rejoin, but this time on the bass. And Jim Ruthless where on a party and he met a longhaired freak with Slayer-patches on the jeansjacket so they started to talk and Jim Ruthless invited him into the band....More info on him later. This time we will not take in any posers in the band, only true metal fans, no jerks, just hard working musicians. So Wass, Chrisse, Stenberg, Dexter, Snesnasen and Stammis are once and for all history!

RISING FROM THE ASHES (Jan 2004)
A new start needs a new name, we thought. And the name that we decided is: BURIED CROSS. A name that Ruthless came up with, He thought it was a great name to show what kind of music we played and it has this spineshilling eighties fashion over it. And in fact that there are no other known band that has used the name before, unlike Profane. Speaking of Profane, the other band that includes Fimpen and Stammis dropped the name Profane and they decided to go under the name Dark Legacy and their guitarist Micke Andersson later dropped the band. Jim Ruthless spoke to Micke Andersson later and he said that the reason why he left them was because they couldn't handle their instruments. Wheter their band is falling apart or not is up to them. Fimpen is recruited now and we think that he has a lot more to offer to the band now without Stammis draging him down like in the Profane-days. When Mikko Lorian and Jim Ruthless kept on playing when our time in the rehearsal room was over, Fimpen often left the room to join Stammis. But he agreed to be more serious about this band and hopefully there will be no disputes this time.

FOUR PIECE UNIT! (Jan 2004)
We decided to recruit Emil on guitar and we showed him how to play a few songs, mainly our usual covers. We have included a few more songs lately, like: Grim Reaper - See you in hell, Overkill - Fear his name, Metal Church - Ton of bricks, Dio - Holy diver, Manowar - Fighting the world and Slayer - Hell awaits. The only thing that is missing now is a vocalist and of course Fimpen, he didn't show up today and we got no excuse from him so far. If he continues to skip rehearsals we will look elsewhere for someone that can fill the spot.

NO MORE PATIENCE! (Jan 2004)
Fimpen skipped another rehearsal and he didn't call us this time either. The official excuse was that he was asleep at the time. The rest of the band decided that Fimpen belongs to our past. And a new bassplayer has to be found. At the time we have no bassplayer in mind. It's hard to find decent musicians in Skellefteå that wants to play the kind of music that we wants. But with adds all over the town we are hoping that the search will be short.

REHEARSALS ON TAPE (Feb 2004)
Our first recordings are made, an instrumental cover of Kiss - Heaven's on fire. Recorded at a higher speed than the original (The Buried Cross-way). Check out our Audio section for a download! Last night Fimpen, Ruthless and Lorian went to a party where they met Nicke, an old friend of ours, he used to jam with us in the Profane days on and off, but back then we wheren't serious enough for him. But things have changed and he will try out in our band soon, the plans is to let him take over the drumming and move Lorian to the bass. We'll see what happens....

CAUGHT IN THE ACT (Feb 2004)
We have finally recorded our very first song, a simplistic version that sounds a bit like Venom meets early Sepultura, raw stuff, check it out on our audio-section, the recording is called rehearsal.mp3. Unfortunately neither Nicke or Stenman showed up (As expected) so we'll keep the doors open for new members in the near future.

DRIFTING ONWARD (Feb 2004)
Nicke the drummer didn't want to join Buried Cross, so his participation is now laid to rest. At a beer drinking session last night Jim Ruthless met up with his gang at a guy called Robert. He had an electric guitar but he asked me if I knew where to buy a bass. I couldn't believe it the guy could play bass. Jim asked Robert to try out for the band and we will se if he shows up next week. Some new photos where taken last week too, with more action than ever before. In the near future we will try to do an Exodus cover of their old classic "And then there were none".

AS SAID BEFORE (Feb 2004)
Lately Buried Cross has asked both Nicke and Stenman to join BC, but both turned us down.

DIGGING DEEPER (Feb 2004)
Lately we've got our rehearsal time doubled and now we'll practice on tuesdays too. Hopefully this will eventually show in our music as we become tighter as an unit. Jim Ruthless has also discussed a reunion with the former Profane-members Stammis and Fimpen. It was Jim Ruthless that contacted Dark Legacy and offered them to rejoin them after hearing Dark Legacy's first recordings that impressed Jim Ruthless enough, they have finally taken things seriously and they have recruited one hell of a guitarist. His name is Mathias 'Matti' Sohlberg and Jim Ruthless thought it would be an experience to play together with him. It's his efforts that brings Dark Legacy's sound to a whole new dimension. Jim Ruthless has discussed that we well move over Emil Sundqen to the bass and then a guitarspot will be left over for someone in 'Matti's caliber, these are just plans. We'll see what happens if Jim Ruthless rejoins them our not, anyhow Buried Cross will be his number one project.

BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT (Apr 2004)
Jim Ruthless decided to not join Dark Legacy for several reasons. So Buried Cross will continue like before, we have found a new member now, Fredde X-son. He wrote to Jim over an internet community and they started to discuss music in general and about a week later he tried out for the guitarslot, and he was convincing enough to be recruited more or less the same day. Therefore Emil's new position in the band will be the bass. Unfortunately he hasn't turned up lately...

BACK ON THE FLOOR (Apr 2004)
Now when we have got almost all pieces together, the tower tumbles to the ground once again. Emil Sundqen decides to leave Buried Cross because he doesn't want to handle the bass even if the rest of the band thinks he does a great job, he simply prefers the guitar, but now X-son plays the guitar and moving him over to the bass is an alternative, but we do really like X-sons playing and we think that Emil fits in better on the bass than otherwise. So we will start to look after a bassist instantly.

UNINSPIRING WEEKS (May 2004)
We let Robert Ekman try out for the bass-spot and he did well. We wanted him in the band, but none of us where inspired to work hard for the band. Jim Ruthless started to miss rehearsals and so did Robert. It's not decided wheter he will join the band or not. Jim Ruthless has decided to take a break from the band. If he will ever return is not known yet. He will be traveling Sweden a lot during the summer, and he has no time for the band. Other sources of inspiration has gripped him and the founders of the band Jim Ruthless and Mikko Lorian wants separate sounds, Jim Ruthless wants to go for a straight NWOBHM / Thrash-sound with lots of falsetto screams. Mikko wants to take it closer to modern death and black metal with growling vocals. That and the lack of time and dedication to the band has led to this break, wheter it's the last dying breath from the band or just an pause hasn't been decided yet.

THE END (June 2004)
The band is no more a band. Mikko wanted to kick Ruthless out of the band, but you can't kick out somebody that has already decided to leave. Jim Ruthless will continue to write music at home. Hopefully he will recruit some members to play his work. That's the only way as I see it......
