Êîä öåòè ÖÂÅ / Code of the TsVE-net

This is a ten-page 4-figure code. Each page is divided in four columns, and 5 blocks of 5 rows each, making a total of 100 entries to a page. To use it, the first thing to do is to determine what page and column holds the plaintext element to encode. Let's say we want to encode an "A". The letter "A" is found on the first page in the second column (see picture below). Now, on the cover on top of the ten pages containing the code, a piece of paper is glued in, having ten rows and five columns. In the first column, the page numbers are found in numerical order. To the right in the next four columns, 2-figure groups are found in mixed order. Choose the 2-figure group, which stands on the same row as the page intended, and in the same column as the plaintext element. The entry for page one reads:
1 00 37 35 31
Since "A" sits in the second column on page one, the group to choose is 37. Next we continue by indicating in which block of five rows our plaintext element stands. To the right, three columns are found. The first one lists a figure for every row, and the two following, one figure each for blocks of five rows; these two last columns are the ones to use. We are allowed to choose any of the two figures listed, so we have a choice of encoding the block as 3 or 6. Last, we must indicate in which of the five rows of the block the plaintext element stands. It is the first row, and that one is indicated by the figure 7. So, "A" encodes as 3737 or 3767.
