C-104 1972–73 The second incarnation of the Commando, built after AMC acquired Jeep.
No picture CJ 1944–86 Civilian Jeep.
CJ-1 CJ-1 1944 The first few prototype civilian Jeeps.
CJ-2 CJ-2 1944–45 The second batch of prototype CJs.
CJ-2A CJ-2A 1945–49 The first production CJs.
CJ-3A CJ-3A 1949–53 "Flatfender." Another early CJ.
M606 CJ-3B 1953–68 The "high hood" flatfender.
CJ-4 CJ-4 1950/51 A prototype that led to the CJ-5.
CJ-5 CJ-5 1955–83 "Round fender."
CJ-6 CJ-6 1955–76* A long-wheelbase version of the CJ-5.
*)Built until 1981 for export.
CJ-7 CJ-7 1976–86 A longer version of the CJ-5 with doors and more comfort.
CJ-8 CJ-8 1981–86 "Scrambler." A long-wheelbase variant of CJ-7.
No picture CJ-10 1982–85 An export truck that resembled a CJ.
DJ-5A DJ 1956–?? The 4x2 "Dispatcher." Built in several versions.
FC-170 FC 1957–65 For "Forward Control" cab-over trucks. Came in two models: the four-cylinder FC-150 and the longer, six-cylinder FC-170.
No picture FJ 1961–?? The "Fleet Van" 4x2 truck.
No picture GP 1941 The Ford prototypes that followed the "Pygmy."
G=Government Contract.
P=80" wheelbase reconnaissance car.
No picture GPA 1942–43 The Ford-built amphibious Jeep.
GPW GPW 1942–45 The Ford-built WWII Jeep, built to the Willys design.
KJ KJ 2001– The Liberty (Cherokee in Europe).
MA MA 1941 The Willys prototype that followed the "Quad."
M=Military contract.
A=series.
MB MB 1942–45 Standard Willys ¼-ton Jeep of WWII.
M=Military contract.
B=series.
M38 MC 1950–55 AKA M38. The first post-WWII military variant of the Jeep.
M=Military contract.
C=series.
M38A1 MD 1952–71 AKA M38A1. The second offshoot of the original Jeep and the basis for the CJ-5.
M=Military contract.
D=series.
M-170 MDA 1954–67 The long-wheelbase version of the MD, known as the M-170. Built in small numbers.
MJ MJ 1986–92 The Comanche. A pickup variant of the XJ Cherokee.
SJ SJ 1963–91* The Wagoneer and Cherokee SUVs or the Gladiator and J-series trucks, known as "Full Size Jeeps."
*)The J-series trucks were built 1963–87.
TJ TJ 1997– The latest coil-sprung Wrangler with round headlights.
VJ VJ 1949–50 The first 4x2 Jeepster, built in two versions: VJ-1 (1949) and VJ-2 (1950).
WJ WJ 1999– The newest Grand Cherokee.
XJ XJ 1984–2001 The mid-sized Cherokee.
YJ YJ 1987–95 The first Wrangler, with rectangular headlights.
ZJ ZJ 1993–98 The first Grand Cherokee line.

According to some sources, the ZJ and WJ models built in Graz, Austria, are referred to as ZG and WG, respectively. I haven't been able to verify whether or not these are official Chrysler codes, however. •
