Eric and Taylor began to spend time together after she lost Ridge to Brooke and Eric lost his hope for a reunion with Brooke. They became more than friends when they started to have fantasies about each other.
Eric hired Taylor as a therapist for the employees at Forrester Creations.
Brooke and Ridge decided to throw a party so Eric could meet single women. Eric wanted to use the event to show everyone how he felt about Taylor. He designed a dress for her and asked Taylor to be his date.
Taylor hesitated because she knew that they could never be a couple, it would destroy her friend Stephanie who she knew hoped for a reunion with her former husband. So she explained that in a letter to him which she sent with a Forrester model who wore the dress and left town. Eric was crushed, but found comfort in his friendship with Stephanie
