ABOUT MYSELF.....

as you already know, my name is Anne Nerell and I live on a little farm in Vallentuna, north of Stockholm. My husband and I have four children but they are all grown up and gone, which gives me a lot of time with my animals on the farm. We have two islandic horses, 2 cats, hens and a various number of dogs. At the moment we have three golden retrievers living with us on the farm.

We bought our first golden retriever 26 years ago. 1979 we had our first litter of golden retriever puppies. Since then, it has been going on for better and for worse. I have learned a lot about dogs through the years. I have showed them and trained them in the field.

A LITTLE ABOUT MY BREEDING

The puppies are born in our house. They live there for the first 4 weeks. That way I can look after the puppies all the time.
When they are around 4 weeks they ususally climb the puppy box, that's when they need more space. Then it's time to move them down to the kennels. There they have plenty of room to play and they can also come out on a nice day.
During this period the puppies are constantly trained by me in various suroundings, like in the stables as well as in the house. I take them one at a time but also toghether with there brothers and sisters..
Between the age of four and eight weeks I like my puppy buryers to come and visit, since it's good for the puppies to meet different people during this period of life.

The puppies are wormed, vaccinated, registrered, tattoed and they have their health certificate when they are sold. I only breed from dogs with good eyes, hips and elbows.

During the first year I invite my buyers to "puppy meetings" where they have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange experiences. I can then see how the puppies grow, if they are too fat or maybe too thin and give advice accordingly. I also show them the training for field trail and the puppies have an opportunity to track a sent but also to retrieve game. I also try to show how to groom and trim a golden retriever and tell about dog shows. Then the puppy owners can practice to show their own dogs as if they were at a dog show.

WANT TO BUY A PUPPY?

Those, interested in buying a dog from me should have enough time to give the dog the upbringing and stimulance the dog is entitled to and which is necessary to get a happy, obedient dog. It's a big responsibility to take care of and bring up a dog, especially a dog of the size of a golden retriever. It demands both time and interest from the owner and you will get so very much back! There are a lot of training classes one can attend, where you get help by professionals and together with other dogs. This is stimulating for both the dog and the owner.

Naturally the puppy buyers can ask me for help and and advice at any time. This is often the case especially during the first year.

When the puppies are around 1½ years old I contact the owners and ask them to have the puppies elbows and hips x-rayed. My former buyers have been fantastic through the years and they have x-rayed their dogs almost to 100%! I have been very fortunate as a breeder and I'm pleased to tell that the dogs I've bred have been very sound!

My ambition is to breed sound and healthy dogs that are nice to both look at and live with in most situations, since the golden retriever is a real "allround dog".
