Hello!
Since the last time we spoked, lots of things has happened.
Some new songs in the setlist and local newspapers that write about
Status Quiz. We also did meet the legend John Coghlan.
Our new drummer Chrille really makes it great behind the drums! His
drumplaying improves all the time (along with his sence of humour).
He has been with us for 3 gigs. The first one was on April 19th at
Metropol - Hultsfred, April the 26th at Värdshuset Orust - Henån and
at Zebra - Kil on June the 7th. It sure feels great having Chrille
in the band.
The Zebra-gig is the best Status Quiz has performed, ever... It was
nearly sold out (close to 600 in the audience)... Great to see so
many people singing, dancing and jumping to the music. New songs to
the setlist are * Claudie, which is the softest song we play... It's
great to see when people dance to it (and grab their partners butt)...
* Solid gold (Wow, this is a great new one... as you already know)
* I saw the light (Status Quiz' favorite song, for now) * Little lady,
which we played before, but didn't sound good enough. Now the lady
sounds pretty nice... (is it because we hit the G-strings harder?...)
* 8 st i en Cheva (= 8 ppl in a Chevy) is an old Quiz song released
as a single back in the '80s.
It's a song dedicated to all who fancy them big + american cars: Chevrolet,
Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Pontiac, Dodge... you who knows, name it! (It's
ok with Opel Diplomat, Admiral or a Kapitän too and even Volvo Amazon...
but not BMW.
How the heck can you put 8 ppl in a BMW? Shame to all of you that
owns one!) * Gasen i botten (=gas pedal to the floor...It's a legendary
song from one of the Swedens most loving artist who passed away last
year... R.I.P: Eddie Meduza... "Gasen i botten" meens you hit down
the pedal that makes the car go ahead...) Hmm... couldn't I do better
than that?! Some newspapers has written about Status Quiz too. A real
nice reporter- woman from VÄRMLANDS FOLKBLAD (VF) came to our rehearsing-place
and asked alot and took some pictures. (I don't know if she was Caroline
or Claudie but the Little Lady was for sure not a Mean Girl). In May
the 7th we all could read almost a whole side in the newspaper about
Quiz. Then in June the 6th another big local newspaper, Nya WERMLANDS-TIDNINGEN
(NWT), wrote about us! We also met the legend John Coghlan! That was
really WOOOW! He played with the Counterfeit Quo in Stommens loge
- Magra in the 8th of June. JC is, as you know, the best drummer in
the world, playing Quo! It was great meeting him. He even took my
hand and I haven't been washing it since! (Now it smells like pulling
it out from a cows arse, but what the heck)... Special thanx to JC,
Trevor and all of them in Counterfeit Quo. They really are super!
Thank you folks, for reading this far... Status Quiz hope you are
able to come see us on next gig(s). Take a look under "GIGS" (If you

I am a hit-single! hehe) And here's a message to you who visit The

Quo. We should be brothers and sisters there, not complaining about

Status Quiz, Jarmo Miettinen, Mikael Laakso and Johan Öhrnell makes
three-thirds of the Karlstad-band Status Quiz. In front you see the
foreign member Erik Thompson, which has been replaced by Christer
Lindström Status Quiz will play together with their idol? The Karlstad-band
Status Quiz don't humble by tellin who their idols are. When the band
plays at Zebra in Kil at Saturday it's gonna be Status Quo-tracks
most of the time. And there are posibilities that the originial-drummer
John Coghlan show up. All over the '80s, Jarmo Miettinen has been
playing in the band Status Quiz. As the name rings out, it's the legendary
British Boogie-band Status Quo, Status Quiz listens to.. With the
musicians Mikael Laakso, Christer Lindström and Johan Öhrnell, Jarmo
has been playing more than 250 gigs of Status Quo-material. The audience
likes it. -"First we had the name 'Quiz' but our fans called us 'Status
Quiz', Jarmo Miettinen says. "I'M A REAL FAN", Jarmo says as he have
met the lads several times. "Among other things, we have had discussions
with John Coghlans management of making a tour in Sweden". John Coghlan
was the Status Quo-drummer for 20 years (from 1962-1982). Today he
plays in his own band "John Coghlans' Quo". The band are going to
play outside Trollhättan at Sunday. -"I invited them and they said
they're trying to get to our gig in Kil.", Jarmo says. "If they show
up, it would be great if the man should go behind the drums and play
with us". Mostly Status Quiz use to play the greatest and most common
Status Quo-hits when they're out gigging. "Yeah, that's what the crowd
wants", Jarmo Miettinen says, while counting 'Rocking all over the
world', 'Caroline', 'Whatever you want'", to mension some of all hits
the British band have done. "Do you have your own favorite-song?"
- I've been listening to more than 400 songs of Status Quos', so it's
hard to mension only one. But perhaps "45 hundred times" is. It begins
with a soft intro, then it gets more and more powerful." Probably
it's going to be that way exactly, on the PUB IN KIL (ZEBRA) at Saturday.

This is news for all our fans.
The band has been rehearsing quite hard for a while...
The latest gig was at Zebra in Kil, December 28th with Erik Thompson
on drums.
Erik left the band in February due to private engagement´s.
(We all wish him good luck with his new bands and that he keeps on
rocking).
Therefore in February, Christer (Chrille) Lindström
joined the band again behind the drums. In the '90s, Status
Quiz made 80 gigs with Chrille on drums. (Read more about Chrille
under `The
band´ on our Website).
Whilst rehearsing, we found out that "Claudie" and "Solid
gold" sounded good enough to put out on our setlist. We also find
out on passed gigs that people still remember and wanted to hear "8
st i en Cheva", which was the first Quiz single released in March
1986... We always listen to our fans and will play it live real soon...
And there is more to come...
We have been playing lots of Quosongs from the `70s (not gonna
tell what...) and it sounds quite good.
When the place is right, you will hear it in a place near you
soon! What else is there to tell?
Well, we have been getting to know some great friends who likes our
music.
The ones to mention is specially Christer Örnberg and his friends
(Arne & Co) that drives all the way from Stockholm to see us play
in Forshaga (for example). That's a oneway trip of 320 km (far more
than 500 English miles)...
This makes the whole band go "WOOOOW"!!! Thanx to you folks!
Just for you we are going to play "I saw the light"!
There are lots of other Quiz fans, like Rickard Kylberg from Vänersborg
who drives far to see us play anywhere in Sweden (even in snowstorm).
Special thanx goes also to our new friend Mangan (Magnus Svensson)
who also is a true Status Quo-fan. As our band, he's like a Duracell-rabbit,
he just keeps rockin' on and on! April 17th, Mangan turned 25.
Congratulations! 25 years...hmmm...you brat there :-)
How ever it is nice to you yong ones out there that are not as old
as we are.. ;) We hope to see you all real soon, Mangan. Don't
forget the "Rollator", old man! More about the band is that
we, in the near future, are going into a studio and record a DEMO...
Quo's "Brit award medley" + Surprice... (Wouldn't that
be something? o yeah ;-)
The last thing is real fun! Jarmo banged his head into
a kitchen-door (not on purpose). He got a big nice bruce (springsteen)
on his fore-head...
But he seems allright! Thanx for reading and keep on rocking!!
