Den gångna veckan har det visat sig att många har fått problem av att mindre nogräknade individer använder sig av en bug i Windows 3.1x/95/NT. Vad dessa typer gör är att skicka OOB (Out Of Band) data till en Windows användare. Detta orsakar att Windows får panik och konstiga saker händer. Även om det verkar som Windows fungerar normalt, så slutar det mesta av dom olika internetprogrammen att fungera som avsett. Enda lösningen är i det läget att starta om datorn. Symtomen på att man har råkat ut för en av dessa individer kan vara att man får upp en blå skärm med texten "Undantagsfel....", "Allmänt skyddsfel i...." samt i mitt fall, att skärmen slocknar en kort stund. Rapporter från andra internetanvändare säger även att skärmen kan bli vit. Även förbindelsen med användarnas ISP (Internet Service Provider, Internetleverantören) kan brytas, den s.k. Carrier avslutas.

Last week, many people has encountered problems caused by malicious people who uses a bug in Windows 3.1x/95/NT. What these bastards does is that they send OOB (Out Of Band) data to a Windows user. This causes Windows to go panic and strange things happens. Even if Windows seems to work properly, the various internet-programs has stopped working the way they should. The only solution is in that case to reboot the computer. The symptom of beeing hitted by one of these individs might be that a blue screen shows up saying: "exception error....", "General Protection Fault...." and in my chase, that the screen goes down for a short period of time. Reports from other users says that the screen can go white. Even the connection to the users Internet Service Provider (ISP) can go down due to no Carrier.

Denna instruktion gäller Windows 95

1. Ladda hem denna fil (1586 bytes)

2. Packa upp filerna i arkivet till en temporär katalog. Filerna som ingår heter: fix_oob.reg samt readme.txt

3. Avsluta eventuell internetkoppling samt alla övriga program. Gå sen via Start - Kör och bläddra dig fram till där filen fix_oob.reg finns. Välj den filen och klicka på OK för att köra filen.

4. Nu ska det komma upp en ruta där det står: "Informationen i fix_oob.reg har registrerats"

5. För att ändringen ska börja gälla måste datorn startas om.

This instruction is valid to Windows 95

1. Download this file (1586 bytes)

2. Unzip the files in the archive to a temporary directory. The files which is included names: fix_oob.reg and readme.txt

3. Disconnect an eventually connection to the internet and shut down all other programs. Go via Start - Run, and browse to the file fix_oob.reg is located. Choose the file and click OK to run the file.

4. Now a message should show up, saying: "The information in fix_oob.reg has registred"

5. To get this change to have an effect, you have to reboot your computer.

Denna instruktion gäller Windows 3.11

1. Asluta Windows 3.11

2. I DOS gå till \windows\system-katalogen

3. Leta rätt på filen: 'vnbt.386' (inga appostrofer)

4. Byt namn på filen till 'vnbt.bak' (inga appostrofer)

5. Starta om datorn och starta Windows 3.11
