N.I.R. Newsletter #29 - 2002
Welcome to the 29th issue of the N.I.R. newsletter. I've
been very busy at school and haven't been able to write this
earlier. Looking at what's planned in November, things are
looking pretty cool, don't you think?

1. News Summary
More dates were added to the GN'R tour, which now stretches
into 2003. Most shows are now on sale. The little that is
known about the ticket sales look great so far, Madison
Square Garden sold out in fifteen minutes! Mixmaster Mike is
the opening act for all the dates.
A couple of more details about the Duff/Slash/Matt band
have come out. Dave Kushner, previously of Duff's Loaded is
the playing guitar with them. Kelly Shaefer of Neurotica has
tried out for the lead vocal slot, but according the Slash's
official fan site, the band hasn't decided on a singer yet.
Last, Izzy is apparently writing with the band, although he
won't be touring with them.
Buckethead released another solo album, this one called
"Electric Tears", on October 8.
GN'R was almost on the cover of Rolling Stone... At least
Shakira wore an "Appetite" top on the cover of the "Women In
Rock" issue.
MTV and Blabbermouth both reported (independently?) that
Axl was spotted in Shanghai, China in the beginning of the
month. Later rumours about GN'R filming a video in China
appeared. As usual there's nothing but silence from the GN'R
camp about the story.
There have been a lot of rumours about December 3 being
the release date of "Chinese Democracy" but nothing official
on that either.

2. Site Updates
The "source system" has been changed, so now everything
looks the same. This is something most web sites are pretty
bad at. You should be able to tell where the information
comes from.
Some concert reviews (most from the 2002 tour) has been
added.
The poll about favourite songs goes well, and I've decided
it deserved a section of their own in the newsletter. See
further down below.
Other then that, I've only done the regular stuff.

4. Contest
This is a little thing I thought I should do in each issue.
There will be no prices, except the honour of having your
name here. There will be three GN'R-questions each month and
one special, and if you know the answers, please write to
hrandreas@yahoo.com.
1. Relate this sentence to Guns N' Roses: "Chicks With Guns"
2. What's the name of the official GN'R biographer? (Whose
biography of the band has yet to see the light of day...)
3. Who was "Double Talkin' Jive" dedicated to most
frequently during the European leg of the Skin N' Bones
tour?
S. How big is my apartment? (in square meters)
As you've probably figured, the last one is to decide a
winner if more than one answers all the questions correct.

5. Song Poll
It's cool that so many have taken the time and participated
in the poll. 89 people have voted since June 16. This is the
top 10 of the list, as of October 31.
1. [35 votes] November Rain
2. [25 votes] Sweet Child O' Mine
3. [16 votes] Estranged
4. [14 votes] Coma
-. [14 votes] Don't Cry [Original]
6. [13 votes] Paradise City
7. [11 votes] Jungle
8. [10 votes] Nightrain
-. [10 votes] Rocket Queen
10. [8 votes] Patience
I held a similar poll (I guess you could say it's exactly
the same...) in the beginning of 1999, and the top 10 then
had "Estranged" in the top, "November Rain" second, and
"Sweet Child" third. All songs on the old top 10 are left,
except "Dead Horse" that's been replaced by "Nightrain".
"The Blues" is highest ranked (18) of the new songs.
The poll will go on as long as people are voting.
