About Changes

Events will occur during Nokia Game that can have a drastic effect on business in music world and on your score. These events are called Changes.

Rolling of the Dice – the rules
Every day around 12.00 CET, two giant dice will be rolled somewhere in Europe. These dice decide which Change will be activated later that day. The dice will in this way influence the prices of Assets in the music world. Here are the rules:

The number of the first dice will be multiplied with that of the second. The outcome ( the multiplication) determines the Change for that day. For example, the dice roll a 2 and a 5. The outcome (5*2) = 10. Change number 10 will then be activated.

Most Changes can only be activated once. If Change number 10 has been used earlier, the next Change up will be used: number 11. If there are no Changes up available anymore, the counting starts over from 1.

The Change of the day and a short movie of the Rolling of the Dice will be published on the central game page around 16.00 CET. The corresponding Change will be activated in the music world at 19.00 CET.

When the Dice roll 1: Music Revolution
There’s a new band in town with a new sound – not audible, but tangible. Music world turns towards this trend, forgetting all the other artists.

When the Dice roll 2 or 3: Charity Event
Music world organizes a fundraising event for people with no rhythm. Only big companies are invited to this event (and are able to pay for a table), which gives them exposure and status.

Music world welcomes a new music video channel, suddenly making it very easy to get airtime.

When the Dice roll 5: Automatic Music Maker
A tool for creating songs with only a few keywords hits the market. Just say the word ‘love’ and you’ll get a new song about love.

When the Dice roll 6: Power Peak
One of the tallest buildings in music world is struck by lightning. This causes a power peak in the music world power grid. All appliances plugged in at the time are damaged and need to be replaced.

When the Dice roll 8: Blizzard
A snowstorm blasts music world. Traffic is at a standstill and going outside is a risky adventure. Having a social life (or business networking) is impossible.

When the Dice roll 9 or 10: Note Worm
A computer virus is spreading throughout music world. It’s a Worm, changing notes in digital Music Files. Affected files are horrible to listen to. Once you play an infected CD, your CD-player will never be the same.

An advertising campaign by a Golden Oldie Radio Station makes people appreciate the value of the old musical heroes of their youth.

When the Dice roll 15 or 16: Scandal
Personal relations between several companies in music world seem to affect business. People are spreading rumours about insider trading.

When the Dice roll 18: Robot Revolution
MP3 robot software hits the market. It browses for MP3s by itself, based on a personal profile. However, the robot is too intelligent and gets out of control, invading company databases, CD-manufacturers and even tapping data lines.

When the Dice roll 20: Pay-per-Byte
A new music distribution network comes online. It transports music files through mobile technology, bringing them directly onto your mobile music device (phones, MP3-players, headphones).

Everybody responsible for creating a song has a right to claim royalties. All sorts of people try to prove they’ve contributed to a song – from studio cleaners to musicians’ relatives.
