Beatles and Vietnam are outstanding facts in the sixties, platform shoes and shorts are outstanding in the seventies, your favorite city is Rotterdam, the favorite country for vacations is Sweden and her favourite roxettish songs are "Watercolours in the rain" and "Go to sleep" (that last one was made to Josefin). In the first encounter with Per, she found him fool. She considered herself kind, modest and gentile and would like to have recorded the song "Hotel California". Marie was born at 3 hours and 38 minutes of the dawn of May 30, 1958 in Östra Lyungby. She was the youngest child of Gösta (father) and Inez Fredriksson (mother). Marie had 1 brother and 4 sisters (Sven-Arne, Ulla-Britt, Anna-Lisa * and Tina). The family was quite musical and Marie learned to sing and to play the piano very young. She dreamed being a great celebrity once. She had a mirror that was divided in three parts. And, in those three parts, one represented the music and the other, the performance. The third meant your decision in doing what more likes... to sing. She began then, to write songs and "founded" a band with your sister Tina. Lady Inez (mother) sometimes placed her to sing for your friends. Marie was very embarrassed. In the first time that she sang for an audience, she won a doll. That gift had a great symbolic value in your career and she said "If it's so cool to sing, I want to do that for the rest of my life, especially if they give me gifts for that!" :) As life is made of high and low, a tragedy affected the Fredriksson family. Anna-Lisa was killed in a car accident. In that time, Marie was 8 years old. They were satiny, but that accident did with that the family was more and more united. Past the tragedy (changing the subject) Marie said at the school... "nor good, nor bad... I am in the middle". She was very interested in music and in the arts and she hated mathematics. Your first boyfriend was called Barthold, but the courtship finished when his family moved from Sweden to Germany. Both were 12 years old. As an adolescent, the interest of Marie for the music became more and more strong. She heard Beatles, Deep Pulple, Jimi Hendrix, Small Faces among others. Your great idol was Joni Mitchell. Marie wanted to study in a music school, but she was not enough still good. She studied in the branch of "Business" but she was frustrated because it felt that your creativity was not being well explored. When Marie did 17 years, she was accepted at a school of adults in Svalöv, where she would make her so wanted music course. However, she found the theory very boring. What she did want, was to sing. It was there that she wrapped up with the theater company Skånska that had, inside of the route, musical parts. And it was where Marie could show your talent. But the beginning went hard for her to find employment and then she moved for Halmstad where met a guy called Stefan. They became lovers and they started to live together. Marie worked in many employments to sustain, but everything was very difficult. Stefan began your own band with friends called "Strulpojkarna". A member of the band heard Marie singing and encouraged her to sing with them. Then they changed the name of the band for "Strul". Strul participated of a rehearsal with the popular group Gyllene Tider. Marie becomes friend of the leader of the band (Per Gessle). Strul organized your own festival but they didn't get a contract for recordings. Marie returns to the theater and to compose getting some attention of a man called Bertil Frisk of "Nizzan" jazz band that was super impressed with her talent and he invited her to participate of the band. Marie is overloaded and starts to not to have time for Stefan. Martin goes by a crisis and Marie closes to him trying to give a support. Strul is already almost at the end when Marie leaves Stefan for Martin. Strul accomplishes a single and makes some participations on TV. But it was then for chaos, when finally the band finishes. A little before, Sr Gösta (your father to who she loved) dies from heart attack. The news puts an end to her and the music is the only thing that alleviates her of the pain. Marie and Martin form a new band "Mamas Barn" with some members of Gyllene Tider. The group releases "Barn som Barn" in 1983. The friendship of Marie with Per grows every day, and he advises her to follow a career soil, because your voice is too beautiful to be hidden in a band. Marie gets scared but with all that force she sings for the productor of him, Lasse Lindbom. To vary, he adored and helped her in a recording contract. She was not very right of that and called to her family that supported her, but she knew that in the bottom... they wanted her in a "truth" employment. Martin was against it and you MaMas Barn ends. He writes a music for her new album. Marie releases "Het Vind" in 84 and she falls in love with Lasse. They went to the Canarias Islands in a romantic holiday where they worked (hehe) in the next album "Den Sjunde Vågen" that was release in 85. Her career begins to proceed. The solo career of Per aren't significant anymore, and then he proposes to Marie that form a band together. He wants to sing in English and tries to release the album in other countries. Marie was apprehensive with the idea and was noticed that your solo career would be ruined. Marie accepted and the duo is formed. The chosen name was the same as Gyllene Tider used in the unsuccessful attempt of having an international career. "Roxette!" Yes, that name was also used by Gyllene Tider and it was the name of a music of Dr Feelgood (band of the seventies). To who doesn't know, "Roxette" is a swedish female name. In 1987, Roxette releases "Dance Passion" (an album of Remixes of "Pearls of Passion" one year before) and in the same time, leaves the third album of Marie - "Efter Stormen" - that is a great success in Sweden. During the first tour, Marie began to enter in a personal crisis. She had difficulties in maintaining your relationship together with the fame and the trips. On the other hand, she was happy... but she felt miserable. After a solid relationship with Johan Kinde (that finished badly), she tried a romance more light with Mats Bärtilsson. Marie said to media that would give a time to the relationships to be devoted more to your career. She entered of head in Roxette, working hard and started to forget the absurd ideas of suicide. (Wow!) But in the end of the tour "Join the Joyride" in Australia, Marie meet Mikael Bolyos. Her life passes of badly to the best and them they decide to join. After the album Tourism, she releases "Den Ständiga Resan" that, in some way, it documents the bad moments that she passed particularly for some years in relation to the separation with Johan. She said that the album was written as a diary and that contains songs on your life, feelings and relationships. "Ett Enda Liv" was written in honor to the friends that made suicide. Marie and Micke are together and the "destiny" (: -P) leaves her pregnant. In that time, Crash! Boom! Bang! (Roxette) is release and it promotes McDonalds. EMI leaves Roxette without representation in the United States and Roxette it begins to lose popularity. Marie married on May 21, 1994 in Östra Ljungby. It was only a small ceremony for close friends and the family. Per was not invited to the marriage. He, trying to justify, said that he had not been invited for she cos she wanted privacy. But there are rumors that the two were not understanding if very well. In 1996, Marie is again pregnant and it releases your fifth album "I en tid sound vår". She has the opportunity to sing in "Polar Music Prize" in front of your idol of childhood, Joni Mitchell then. Your son is born on November 26. About 98, the Marie's mother dies. That was not published at that time and the fans were only knowing 2 years later when she mentioned the fact in an interview. In 2000 Marie releases "Äntligen - bästa 84-00" and sells 150.000 copies in Sweden and begins your tour. Marie says that one of the best moments of your life. Your passion is your two children and your husband. She believes that is very different that there are years ago.
