Dear Scouts and Scouters, I am trying to prepare for the Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Net. Our troop will be operating on several frequencies for voice. In addition we will have a packet station and were planning to participate in Internet relay chat on the computer. After reviewing the titles and brief descriptions of what is on Internet relay chat, I am concerned about the chance of exposing the boys to such ideas.
I am e-mailing every Scout and Scout leader I can find addresses for on the WWW. I would like to know if you might be interested in exchanging e-mail with Scouts in countries around the world on the weekend of JOTA, October 19-20. If so, please e-mail a response back to me at larry@tislink.com.
Thank you for your time. Good luck in your Scouting
adventures. Larry Cox, Scoutmaster Troop 375
Dear Scouts and Scouters,
I am asking for information that will let the other members of our list know a little about you. They can use the information to find out who they have something in common with and to contact those they would like to learn more about. As members of Scouting programs we have more in common than most people. However, there are enough things to learn about each other to keep us very busy talking to each other for a very long time. As you get this information to me I will forward it to the rest of the group. Call signs, packet addresses and frequencies may not be available right now. Send them later.

llo I am Le Phuc Hung, a member of Scouts Canada from Thornhill village just North of Toronto City, Ontario Canada. I am donning a few hats for Scouting Movement: a "skipper" for Quang Trung Rover Crew which is registered to the Skyline Area of Greater Toronto Region, Leader Trainer, Service Scouter ....I was born and raised in Vietnam so I can communicate in Vietnamese language. My email addresses are lhung@rci.rogers.com (work), le_hung@skl.com (home) and gilwell@globalserve.net for scouting. I am also in-charge for the Vietnamese Scouting News, a WEB page for training with the address http://www.globalserve.net/~gilwell. Sorry, I don't have a Packet Radio and I know nothing about JOTA. I'm servicing for Scouts Canada in Thornhill and Toronto areas but I am also devoting my time and efforts to Vietnamese Scouting. I'd like to communicate with scouters of Vietnamese origin or who likes to help Vietnamese Scouting which is suppressed by the communist regime since 1975 following the fall of the Republic of Vietnam. I am responsible for the Huong Dao Ca (Scout Song Book) in Vietnamese language. This book contains over 300 songs with notes and lyrics. It was published and donated by the Boy Scouts of America. It was released at Gilwell Park in August 1996. To obtain a free copy and if your address in US please send a note to scouter Nguyen tan De at National Council of BSA (denguyen@airmail.net) otherwise contact me for further information. 5 Sorry not available
6 Am trying to persuade local radio hams for assistance - will advise details later but for now not available.
7 Scouts
8 camping, hiking, cooking, caving, canoeing, climbing, rifle shooting, archery, pretty much everything really but I can't remember flower arranging or face washing being particularly popular !
9 Programme ideas - especially novel ideas for teaching First Aid, Knots, Map Reading etc. Also any novel ides for fund raising schemes.
10 Everywhere
11 If I cannot find a radio ham then we will use my PC at home so numbers of Scouts attending will be severley limited due to space and my phone bill ! I have tried to get local companies involved but the concensus of opinion seems to be NOT to allow Scouts access to expensive equipment in case they break it. However I will try and get British Telecom to pay my phone bill for me!

Hello all readers of this l-o-n-g
listing. Divided in four parts. This was number one.
This is a slightly edited collection of all those info-mails we got from
Larry Cox before the Joti-96. Some late items has not yet been included,
and probably some mistakes or unvalid info has sneaked into the list. If
you notice something wrong, or something that maybe should not be in the
listing do not hesitate to mail us at Scoutradiogruppen
/ SK0RG/ so we can make a correction. We hope this list may be useful
for all you Scouts in the year to come until Joti-97. So Please use it
!
Feel free to copy the list as
it is to other places, maybe at your own site. But please then do not forget
to give the credit for it to Larry Cox who is the one who made BIG job!
Thanks Larry!
