Project M-Box is something i have been thinking about creating for a long time. This fall (1999) i finally got around to start it. First let me explain what Project M-Box is and what it originates from. The name, M-Box, stands for several things: eMu, Movie, Media and Mp3. It is a console looking PC that does emulated games aswell as VCD, Mp3, DVD and even PSX emulation. Basicly, i am using leftover and new PC parts and puts them in a wooden box i have built. The box size is 150x430x380 mm, perfect fit for my bookcase electronics section. Ok one might say, why is he doing this? Why not just place your usual puter in the livingroom and hook it up to the 29" Sony TV? Because, i want a dedicated machine that also look good in my bookshelf. Now, i know theres lots of standalone players that do Mp3, DVD and VCD all-in-one, but since what i really wanted to do was play Neo*Geo games on my 29" that wasnt enough. The M-Box concists of the following parts: Abit BE6 mobo 196 mb pc-100 ram STB TNT TV-out Realmagic Hollywood+ Mpeg-card Intel Celeron 300A@450 mhz Montego turtle Beach soundcard Silitech MS-1000 IR Remote The Mbox runs on win98, using 98lite to speed things up, and the LiteStep shell, take a look here how it looks! |
