Fox Genealogy:
NOTE!!!
Fox Clan is not a genealogy group! Much of the reasoning behind this has to do with the fact that there are many excellent websites for chasing your Fox ancestry. The only genealogical information you might consider sending in is if you have some very unusual tracing to do and you have exhausted all the other options. We do occasionally find matches, and one member recently found someone with photos of his great grandfather and great uncle at a website we referred him to. Another woman from the Shinnick sept wrote to us, having just lost her father and having no contact with Shinnick relatives - she had no idea she even was part of a sept - and we referred her to the Shinnick website. If you have some genealogical work to do and you have an ancestor with an unsual name or background - MAYBE we can help you. But please do try the following sources first - they are much better at it than we are! Any unsual genealogical requests or finds will be posted in the Fox News section.
Local Names (based in Ireland) - http://www.names.local.ie
The Celtic Connection - http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/Prairie/8088/ire.html

Also, each county in Ireland has genealogical listings and genealogical groups. Do a search, for example, for "County Mayo genealogy" or "County Mayo surnames".
One address for County Westmeath, names beginning with e-k, for example, is
http://www.amitar.com.au/~deel/weste-k.htm
I also suggest you do a search for "Irish surnames" and you will be amazed at the wide range of sources available, including ships' records, parish records, etc.
