From 1996 Penguin Guide to Classical CD's:
Satie's 'Parade' is the most audacious piece in an excellent Mercury
compilation of (mostly) twentieth-century French music, its scoring including
several extra-musical effects. Dorati makes it all fit together wittily
and entertainingly, and the LSO make the most of the vivid scoring, with
the brass obviously relishing their slightly vulgar theme which is somewhat
reminiscent of Kurt Weill. The necessary atmosphere and color are given
to the more restrained sections of the score, and the Mercury recording
team excel themselves in presenting Satie's kaleidoscopic circus colors
with the utmost vividness.

CD's:
(review of original LP)
...The bright recording joins Dorati's approach in presenting the music vividly, and the necessary atmosphere is given to the more restrained sectons of the score. Of all the music on this disc only Francaix's economical Concertino effecitively avoids sounding a trifle inflated for its musical substance, but it is a real pleasure to listen to music of our own century that sets out to please the ear, despite its extravagances.
