Sorry for hyperventilating, I was under
the mistaken impression that a CD-ROM version of Entr'acte
was available, with a new soundtrack of Erik Satie compositions. Too good
of an idea to be true.
But there is a music-only CD with an original score for Entr'acte
by Koji Ueno.
Nicolas Kent (ndkent@earthlink.net) emails:
"I just got Koji Ueno's rather rare 'Music for Silent Movies'. Most
is original music for actual surreal silent films. For Entr'acte
he does a nice arrangement of Satie melodies from various Satie compositions.
I enjoy Satie's music and have arranged some for film projects myself."

Another item of interest from the
Japanese music world: Haruomi
Hosono released an LP in 1984 called "The Erik Satie Album."
It turns out that this was a compilation of Satie piano music by Jean-Joel
Barbier from the 1970's, "presented by" Hosono.
Never at a loss for words, Nick waxes-on nostalgically:
"The series of records that the 'presented by Hosono' album was in
contained albums of original music quite reminiscent of a Satie style.
They are legendary among those who know about them. The series is called
'Music Interior' in Japan and the original recordings were released on
the Pan East label in the UK. As far as I know the four original Music
Interior albums were the only albums on Pan East"

Nick is on a roll, as he weighs-in with yet another
intrigueing listening suggestion:
"The album 'La Voix de Paris' by Miharu
Koshi on Medium (which is Hosono's private label, he executive produces
all her albums, she produces) from 1992. She performs 'Son binocle' and
'Sur un càsque'. The album also contains music by Poulenc, Français,
Fauré, Milhaud, Auric. The Satie pieces are not arranged, though
many of the other works are arranged for wordless voice, xylophone, glockenspiel,
accordion, etc . I think this is a studio recording of one of her concert
programs. She used to use mostly synthesizers, but this album is acoustic.
