Select bar code type.
The most common bar code in retail in north america is the UPC-A, also known as GTIN-12 or UCC-12. In the rest of the world it's the EAN-13 (GTIN-13, UCC-13)
If you choose to fill in the product information then all you have to do is to select the barcode you want to make and then fill in the information. Barcode isn't going to allow you to fill in any character that's not supported by the barcode, this way all information added to the barcode list will work and will make a barcode if selected.
Barcode Maker supports, UPC A, UPC E, EAN 8, EAN 13, all UPC and EAN barcodes can have the 2 or 5 digit supplementals added, ISBN, ISBN incl. price tag, ITF-14 (SCC-14), Code 39, Code 2 of 5 Interleaved and also Coda bar.
Making a UPC-A
When you want to make a bar code you first need to select the bar code type, this is done in the area shown above. Above you can see that the UPC-A have been selected.
Some bar codes also supports Digit Supplement and you will of cause be also to use this function.
Above the No Supplement have been selected. If you are going to make a ISBN with a price tag then you would need to select ISBN and also 5 Digit supplement.
Above I have filled in the Product and Barcode. I have also click on the Make Code button. If I would like to add the bar code information to the Barcode List, I would click on the Add to List button. Please note that you only need to fill in 11 digits for the UPC-A, as the 12th digit is the checksum and will be added automatically.
In the Barcode area you will be able to view tha bar code.
ISBN and ISBN incl. price tag.
When making a ISBN incling a price tag, you will need to select the ISBN option, please look at the image below.
We also need to select the 5 Digits in the Digital Supplement, please look at the image below.
We also need to fill in the ISBN characters, for a ISBN you will need to fill in 13 digits and also the 5 digits for the digit supplement. please look at the image below.
As you can see above the ISBN includes 13 digits, devided by 4 hyphens and to the right you can see the 5 Digits for the Digit Supplements. The first digit in the 5 digit supplement. is a 5 and it's USD (US Dollars). So the book is USD $24.95
Click on the Make Code button. if you would like to add it to the Barcode List, then please click on the Add to List button.
