Kung Kodum

This band is something for the future, they just began to play like Kung Kodum and now the realesed this wonderful Ep from I-Ration Records. 4 wonderful songs i swedish for the swedish audience. This band is one of the best bands in Sweden right now, but thats just my opinion. They start of slow with the song "Stå upp". And tits about that you should stand up and belive in yourself. This Ep is recorded analog in a basement not in any fancy studio like many others, however it sound very good. The last song is about the 9/11 and then its not the 9/11 -01 but the 9/11 -73 in Santiago a really good song about the terror in Santiago 1973. It's a very politicall Ep but very
good.. I strongley recommend it! /Tobijas
Playlist: Stå upp, Den Drivande, Fotfolket, Sensimilla, 11/9 -73

The Liptones - Espandrillos

This is Liptones first Ep, and its also realesed on AMTY Records
just as "The Latest News". It contains 4 songs, 3 studio recordings
and a live version of "Girl for tonight" from their last album. The
sound of the band is still the same, fast party ska with lots of horns.
The frist song called "This is Ska", which is also my favourite, will
also be on their next album. Dont know when its planed though... So if
you like thier last album you'll sure like this one too, and if you haven't
had a chance to hear it yet or aint sure if its worth the money. This is
a good way to find out how they sound.
I'd even say that they are swedens leading ska band at the moment! /tjub
Playlist: This is Ska, Kids of the streets, Street walk, Girl for Tonight (live)

The Xplotions - A little way different

The first time I heard this band was on a german ska compilation called "Achtung Elmo", it was an overall good record. But there was one song I just loved, "London Town" with the Xplotions. So when I found "a little way different" I just had to buy it, the record was even better than I thought. It's is a little slower than the song I first heard, reggae and ska with lots of organ and not much horns. Man I love it, not that I dont like horns but I really love organs. There are only 11 songs on the record so a few more would be nice, but you cant have it all. It would get 5/5 if it wouldnt be for really lousy vocals by the female part in the band, Meike on some songs, she shold stick to her trumpet. One funny thing is that they are only four people in the band and they have four guest musicians :) /tjub
Playlist: Grey skies, Big thing, In disguise, Do it, London Town, Crocodile tears, Divided in two, Scraping, A little way different, Worlds apart, Soon you'll be gone

The Liptones - The latest news

"The latest news" is the first record from this young swedish ska band. The first song is
called "Jungle Heat" and it starts with some really weird jungle sounds, its a fast rocking
ska song and just like the rest of the record it's got alot of horns and organ. The record then
slows down to a more "normal" tempo, which I prefer. The best songs are "Girl for tonight", "My
way" and "Dressed in pink" even though there arent any real stad out songs, the first two can be
found on their demo "Sucks", which I like alot. But if I you have a lill' money over and you dont
know how to spend it, you might aswell buy this record cause it'll spice up your party for
sure! /tjub
Playlist: Jungle heat, It's all I hear you say, Girl for tonight, Shoot 'em Dowm,
Beautiful day, Paranoia, My way, Dressed in pink, No way out, Strange kind of justice, Waiting til midnight,
Liptones, Out with the boys, Free like a bird

Duck Soup - Planet Ska

"Planet Ska" is the first and only record so far from these danish ska veterans from Kopenhagen.
Its filled with 12 great songs of soulfilled 2tone inspired ska, which will make your feet
move. It starts of with "Mad duck bullit" which is a uptempo song, but then it slows down
a bit and both "Jorden" and "F.B.I" are really groovy. As it should be on a ska record the
lyrics are mostly about girls, realtions and having a good time "Girl like you", "Liar" and
"Making babies" are some of the best. But I shouldnt forget the last song, "Living Dead" which
is a catchy tune about life as a zombie. I've had the opportunity too see them live two times,
and I have to say that the are twice as good live! /tjub
Playlist: Mad Duck Bullit, This is what I say, Always, Look the other way, Read My lips,
Jorden, F.B.I, Stompin', Girl Like You, Liar, Making babies, Living dead

Eskalator - Inte exakt likadant

This is the first demo from the Swedish band called Eskalator, with an old-school sound and lyrics in swedish. Theres
11 songs, witch are rather many for an average demo, but not a single one is a bad one so its just a few more to enjoy. My favourite is "Var ligger Babylon ?"
(Where's Babylon ?) Its about that you dont have to act or dress in a special way to play ska/reggae, and its rather funny.
The attitude and lyrics of the record puts a smile on your face, and I'd love to hear more from them, soon!
The only negative thing is the sound, but since its just a demo you cant expect too much of it :) /tjub
Playlist: Al McPope är jagad, Var ligger Babylon?, Gröna linjen discotek, Max hjälten, Rocksteady bil,
Fel håll tåg, Ängby brinner, Skaproducenter, Band sökes, Ekvatorn, Kalle Teodor
