Some software is required to make a cabinet like this to work the way it should.

Operating system

I want maximum performance and  minimum boot up time so DOS was an easy choice. I used Windows 98, made a boot disk and formatted my HD with FAT32. I then copied the additional files I needed (himem.sys, smartdrv.exe, attrib.exe etc.) from c:\windows  and c:\windows\command to the HD and finally installed good old Norton Commander. I use Microsoft mouse.com as the mouse driver for Opti-PAC and it works perfectly. I initially tried the Cute Mouse driver but it didn't  work as well with the trackball as Microsoft's mouse.com.

Frontend

I use Game Launcher since it is the most beautiful pure DOS menu system on earth. It is not as easy to set up as Arcade OS but the result is worth it. I also using a computer monitor so I don't need the arcade monitor support in Arcade OS. I have made a program that will generate Game Launcher files by combining MAME listinfo data and category information from the Arcade@Home catver.ini file. It is making the configuration of Game Launcher for MAME much easier.

Emulators

MAME the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. I have made my own build with no "Press OK to continue" prompts etc.  That is enough right now but Elevator Action II requires Raine...
