Want-list

I'm always looking for live/rare recordings and bootlegs of:

Maria McKee, Emmylou Harris, Suzanne Vega, The Band

Further, Roy Buchanan, Beth Orton, Victoria Williams, Lonnie Mack, Linda Ronstadt, Buddy Miller, Neko Case, Lucinda Williams, Sophie Zelmani and Emiliana Torrini could be of interest... And... you get the idea, feel free to ask.
Also, are there any rarities/live shows by: Amanda Ghost, Eileen Rose, Leona Naess, Kathleen Edwards and Kathryn Williams? ... and Cyndi Boste!?!?!?!?

In particular, I'm looking for:

Roy Buchanan - official early, 50's and 60's, recordings (preferably on CDR, but a tape would also do): stuff such as Danny Denver, Bob Luman, Danny & The Juniors, Jerry Hawkins, Merle Kilgore, The Secrets, Cody Brennan etc.
Beth Orton - Århus, Denmark, Mar 17 2000 (don't know if exists)
Beth Orton - Malmö, Sweden, Sep 24 2002. VIDEO (filmed by at least 2 persons from audience)
Levon & The Hawks - any recordings in 1964-65.

- If you have any singles, EPs, posters, original bootlegs, etc. of Maria McKee, Emmylou Harris, Suzanne Vega, The Band and a few others, and want to get rid of them, contact me.

- I may also trade for good quality video tapes and DVD-R of various artists (I can handle both PAL and NTSC format).

- I'm looking for official Japanese edition CDs (new and used) which have bonus tracks. If you live in Japan and have access to these, I'm interested swapping live CDRs for them.

- Finally, I collect official records (LPs, EPs, singles, CDs, CD singles). If you have a collection or some albums you want to get rid of, send me your list.

Trading guidelines

In short: 1 CDR for 1 CDR, quality CDRs, DAO, no MP3s, no cases, no prints (I prefer scans), airmail.

Long version:

- Trades are done 1 CDR for 1 CDR.
... For trades with blanks, see below the "Nothing to trade?"-section.

- I only trade CDRs.
... actually, I will trade my CDRs for tapes and videos (and DVD-Rs) of Maria McKee, Emmylou Harris, Beth Orton, Suzanne Vega and The Band. I may also trade for good quality video tapes of various other artists.

- I will use some name brand discs (usually TDK, Sony, Kodak or Mitsui).
... don't use generics, Maxells or Memorex if possible. Let me know what brand you use.

- I do not want MP3-sourced discs.

- Provide as much information on the recordings as possible (source, date, location, set-list, cover-art etc).
... use email or provide www-address.

- If I've got scans of the cover-art, they are available from my trade page (usually I don't have them).
- I will not provide paperprints of the covers.
... and I don't expect you to make the backcover, just send all the info with email.

- Do not write on the CDs.

- Record "Disc-At-Once" (no gaps between tracks). Let me know otherwise (usually not a problem, just let me know in advance).
... Note: If you don't know what "Disc-at-once" is, ask me or check these pages: Andy McFadden's CD-Recordable FAQ (spec. [2.9]) or CD-Recordable & cd recording articles.

- Never, ever omit/leave out any songs when making my copy. If the show does not fit on a 74 min. disc, contact me and we can work it out somehow.
... usually, I'll ask you to use a 80 min CDR, or to copy the last track(s) to a separate CDR, in which case I'll of course provide 1 more disc (with or without music).

- You can combine several short shows from my list (total length less than 74 minutes) on 1 disc.
... but be reasonable, don't ask me to pick up 20 tracks from 20 different shows.

- I create the CDRs at 4X speed unless otherwise agreed upon (see the Nerd Corner for further information).

- I prefer to send without jewel cases. Use bubbled or padded envelopes.
- Use first class/priority/air mail; I will do the same.
- Let me know when you have sent your CDs and when mine arrive; I will do the same.

- Send out the discs on the date we agree on.
... don't wait to send out your discs until after you receive mine (bad trading manners).

- Be fair and have fun!

- These are just guidelines. I'm flexible with them, so if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Note that my old email-addresses quoscdr@iname.com, quos@mac.com, quoscdr@mac.com etc should not be used any longer. Also the homepage.mac.com/quoscdr/ address is gone now.

---

Fillers

- I will usually provide a filler show if there is more than 40 minutes free space left on a CDR (in that case I will use a complete show). If you don't want this, please let me know.

- If you want me to fill a disc with something specific, just ask (usually not a problem).

- If you want to provide fillers, use complete shows if possible (let me know if the filler is a complete show or not).

---

Nothing to trade?

First, never send me anything without confirming the trade with me first.

- If you do not have anything to trade, I occasionally do trades with blank CDRs. Ask me (no promises though).

- I may also trade for officially released CDs (the original CDs with all original coverart, no CDR copies). Used CDs will do fine. If you are interested in this kind of trade, feel free to view my wantlist at Amazon, or send me a list of what you can offer.

- Here is how I prefer trades with blanks:

To get one disc with music, you should send me 3 blank 74 or 80 min CDRs (one of the following brands: TDK, Verbatim, KODAK, Mitsui, Sony. No generics, no Maxells, Memorex and similar). The discs don't have to be "audio" CDRs, the regular, cheaper data CDRs will do.
I'll copy the music on 1 of the discs and return it to you. I pay for the envelope and return postage, airmail (those 2 discs I keep cover for that).

I prefer to ship the discs *without* jewel cases, you can do the same (see my web-page for packaging and mailing).

In this kind of trade I expect you to post first.

- If you live in Japan and can get official Japanese edition CDs (new and used), I'm interested swapping live CDRs for them. I want the original CDs of course (no CDR copies).

Mailing and packaging

- I prefer to send the discs without jewel cases. If you got plastic or paper sleeves, use them to separate the CDRs (so they can not scratch against each other). If you don't have sleeves, take the 2-sided frontpaper of the case, put the CDR in between and close with tape (so the disc stays within the paper cover). The main thing is that the CDRs are separated and they can not move.

- Use a bubbled (preferably) or padded envelope.

- If you are sending outside of Europe, you have to fill out the customs declaration (that green sticker). That should read something like: Used CDs, Gift. The value of the customs is how much the blanks CDRs are worth (should not exceed 20$; that would mean you are sending 20 CDRs if 1 blank CDR costs 1$). Sign the sticker and stick it on your envelope.

- Use first class/priority/air mail.

- Don't forget to mail the package!!!! :)

My personal sound quality grading is:

In other words, most of us are happy with both A+ and A. For Bs and Cs, I really need the show (that is, I'm collecting the artist).

On my list, I mark audience recordings with "AUD"; if a show doesn't have the AUD mark, then it probably is from soundboard, FM, TV or similar (even if they are not explicitly marked so).

"DFM M" denotes my own digital recording of FM broadcast (usually from the Swedish radio P3). Similarly, "DAUD M" denotes an audience recording made by me (I'm currently using Sound Professional BMC6-mics, Sound Pro preamp and a Sony MD). "M1" mark is for recordings I got directly from someone with the master.

The mark "not complete" denotes shows for which I'm aware of a more complete version. If the mark is in red, I'm looking for a better/more complete copy. Further, if the sound grading has addition "noise", then my copy has some digital noise (and again, red color indicates I'm actively looking for a better copy).
