CREATURE MASTERY BOOKS

Ok here is a summary of everything I have found from beta and in the game live so far about the Creature Mastery. I will start with dispelling the rumors (false hoods), and then I will give the facts of what is real. I would like help to identify the locations, rewards and any additional information about these quests. I posted a thread to gather t his information for those that have the knowledge to help out...

Rumors/ Falsehoods

Creature Mastery is tied to learning a creatures language
Not true. Those are separate quests that are either bought or looted from drops of creatures in certain zones. Creature Mastery is tied to special attacks against those kinds of creatures Not true. Those are gained at certain levels as you advance in your adventure classes.

Such as Orc and Gnoll at level 12
Creature Mastery is tied to Hunter and Slayer Titles that are worn
Not true. Those titles are gain by the number of a certain kind of creature that you have slain. Hunter of “what ever” is given at 500 kills and Slayer of “what ever” are given at 5000 kills.

Truths/ Facts

Rewards for finishing the Mastery Quests
The first is a Book of the lore of that kind of creature that you can place in your house to fill up bookshelves. The second is a weapon that you can place on your walls for all to see. The third is experience for finishing the quest. Rewards are given as soon as you complete the quest. So insure that you have 2 slots of free inventory space if you are close to finishing it. Creature Mastery drops Once you have obtained a Book from its location, and have examined it, you will have to gather certain parts of those creatures. All books are No-Drop and can not be traded.

Some drop and can be traded or sold on the Market. Some parts are auto loot items that come as you kill that kind of creature. The drop rate of any of the items is random and rare loot. There is no set limit that you need to kill. There are those that are luck that have finished a creature mastery in as little kills at 10, and there are those that have killed well over 1000 of a creature and still have not gotten all the parts to finish the quest.

DO NOT EXAMINE ANY PARTS BEFORE ALL AUTOMATIC PARTS ARE DROPPED!
If the quest is bugged... delete quest and re-read book to start quest again.

Freeport/Commonlands/Nectulos Locations

* Orc Mastery Book - Commonlands
Where? Go to the Commonlands, and head to the tower at the Crossroads. Loc Position = -430, x, -280. Go inside and turn around to face the door you just came in. There is a shield on the wall on each side of the door. To get the book, search the shield on the left of the door.
Reward? a Bow, a Book, and experience

* Zombie Mastery Book - Fallen Gate
Where? Enter the Commonlands, and head to the Falling Gate. Falling Gates Loc = 1,500, x, -400. (Qeynos Players, you must have a key to enter Fallen Gate. Group with a Freeport citizen who has the key, or sneak into Freeport through the sewers to search for the Quest NPC named Kanos X'Aphon to get your own key.)

You will now need to head to Market 2, and may need a group for this depending on your level. Go forward through the dungeon and you will soon come to a small area that looks like a burnt down town. This area seems to be referred to by players as "Market 1". Run forward into this town, and the path will take a U shape, and you'll continue down a narrow path to a small lake. From this lake, run forward, following the left wall. You will soon come up a steep ramp and discover another town. From here continue forward into the center of the town, and then turn to your left to where you will see a row of tents. From here just head down to the end of the tents. You will find the zombie book in a large urn between two tents.
Reward? a Mace, a Book, and experience

* Treant Mastery Book - Nectulos Forest
Where? In a crate in one of the tents on the beach in NektulosForest.
Reward?

* Elemental Mastery - North Freeport
Where? Go to the Academy of Arcane Science in North Freeport. Look for a blue book next to the NPC named Scribe Claudia Quarto.
Reward?

* Shadowed Men Mastery Book - North Freeport
Where? I have not found this book myself since I am not a Freeport Citizen. Here is the information I do have. Go to the Academy of Arcane Science in North Freeport. The book is sitting here on a table.

* Fairy Mastery Book - Nectulos Forest
Where? Getting this book is pretty tricky because from what I could tell, you need to be doing the Everling Locket quest to be able to get access to the area of the castle that the book is located in. First you need to get to Nektropos Castle. To do this you must have completed the mastery quest for it. Head to the northeast area of the zone to get to Nektropos Castle.

Now, in order to get the Fairy book, you will have to know your way around the place and be doing the Everling Locket quest, to where you gain access to the secret tunnels which connect all of their bedrooms. You must be at the stage of the quest where you have killed the 6 sisters. This is the point where the ghost helping you will unlock the doors in the castle so you can move around. Each of the sisters rooms have a door in them which leads to a series of secret tunnels which link to all the sisters rooms.

Go to the last sisters room, which is the one that spawns the level 40ish triple arrow monster and go through the door in her wall. The monster might attack you, but he cannot move, so just run past him and make sure not to engage him. Inside these tunnels just walk in and go around the first corner and you will see a pair of double doors which lead into the library. You must obtain the library key or be grouped with someone who has the key in order to get inside.

Once inside there is a bookcase which opens up like a door. Enter this door and there will be a desk to your right. Examine the book on top of it to get the Fairy Mastery book.

* Ghost Mastery Book - Nectulos Forest
Where? First you need to get to Nektropos Castle. To do this you must have completed the mastery quest for it. Head to the northeast area of the zone to get to Nektulos Castle. From here you just head straight forward to a set of two doors. ake the door on the left, and you will enter a room with a fallen staircase. Walk into this room and turn right, and you should see another door past the staircase. Walk into this door, and on your left you will see a pair of double doors. Walk through them to enter a bedroom. Inside here you should be able to get the book from this closet.

* Treant Mastery Book - Nectulos Forest
Where? For Freeport players, run to Nektulos Forest and then to the docks. Here at the large camp you will see Vandals and Pirates. The following screenshot is of me facing the camp, with my back towards the beach. The white arrow shows which tent the book is in. To get the book, there is a crate in there you must right click and get. Once someone gets the book, it needs around 5-10 minutes to "respawn" so someone else can get it.

Qeynos/Antonica/Thundering Steppes Locations

* Treant Mastery Book - Nectulos Forest
Where? For Qeynos players, go to Thundering Steppes and head to the NorthWestern beach, where you will find a dock. Then use a Mariner Bell to go to Nektolos Forest. Once you have zoned there, run to the end of the dock, turn right and run along the beach. Very soon you come near the end of the beach area, turn left 90 degrees and head up towards a large camp of tents.

* Gnoll Mastery Book - Antonica
Where? Go to Antonica, and take a Gryphon to the Steppes station. Once you have landed, turn North and run to the small castle with a moat around it. Run inside and to your left against the wall will be a small wooden box. Right click on this box to get the book

* Golem Mastery Book - Ruins of Varsoon
Where? This dungeon has very tough monsters in it. You will most likely need a group to be able to get through it and obtain the book. A group of linked monsters spawns in the room that the book is in. lso keep in mind that I may not have stopped to take a picture of every last room. So if you are in a room in the picture, and then continue and the next room you are in is not the next picture in the tutorial, try not to freak out.

Head to to the Ruins of Varsoon. Ruins of Varsoon Loc = -670, x, 670. The entrance is a metal grate in the ground. Once you are in Varsoon, you should be standing next to a ladder, surrounded by mushrooms, and desperate LFG people talking dirty in OOC. You may have to suck it up and actually group with some of these people in order to get to the book, but I was lucky enough to find a pretty good group.

Start off by heading forward down the caves to this large opening, head along the left wall to the opening. Next you need to continue down the tunnel and you should eventually come to this opening. Head along whatever wall looks safest, to avoid the skeletons and head through the passage at the other side of the room. Continuing along you should come to another room similar to the last one. Do the same thing here and use the walls to get past the skeletons and continue down the next tunnel.

This should lead you to a pipe, go through it. Next you will come to a small room with some dangerous skeletons in it. To get past these, you can hug the left wall, and jump on top of the barrels to get to the door safely, and with little chance of the monsters attacking you. ow you need to be careful of the giant Clay golem looking guys that wander the halls. Some conned double arrow red to Level 24. After a little ways you should come to a fork in the road, with the options of either Right or Left. Turn left and you should come to the Tailor Room.

Again, be very very careful of strong monsters in here. There are a bunch that wander inside the tailor room. When it is safe, continue inside, turning to your left to head to the back corner of the room. Back there you should see a ramp heading up. Head up this ramp carefully. There are a bunch of linked magic books in here that will attack if they are spawned. Head up and inside the last room when it is safe. You should now be in the Library. n the floor there will be a short bookcase tilted back against the wall with a large book on it. Examine this to get the Golem mastery book.

* Skeleton Mastery Book - Stormhold Keep
Where? First you need to head to Stormhold. To do this take a Gryphon to the Steppes Station. Get off and run North East. You will see a small castle on a pond. Continue running up past that and you will see a path heading up a hill. You need to run up this path to find a crooked old temple. This is the entrance to Stormhold. Stormhold Loc = -2,270, x, 300. un down the path from the Stormhold entrance to the main hall. Take the second door on the RIGHT and head down. Keep going forward until you come to a broken hallway.

Once you are here, jump across and continue forward until you come to a fork with a door on the left and a hall on the right. Turn right and head down the hall, keep going straight until you come to a left turn with a wooden door. There should be a spiral staircase with a floating sword on a platform in the center. o down the stairs and keep going straight, and you will come to a round room with 3 other doors, called The Atrium. Run straight ahead through the door in front of you and keep going until you come to a fork in the road. Go right and you will see a room with some short platforms, and some glowing white blobs. Run into that room and to your right will be a room with a recessed floor. On that floor is a metal grate which you need to use to zone into another area of Stormhold.

Use the grate to zone into a different area of the dungeon. Once you have zoned, head out of the small room and down the long hall. Go through the wooden door and you are now in a library. From this doorway you should be facing some bookshelves. You are now in the Library. Should you get attacked, you can run back to the grate, zone and try again in a minute. If you want, you can also use the door at the far end of the Library, it will zone you out to Antonica. However that is a one way door, and you cannot reenter from it once you exit.

Run around to the opposite side of these shelves and you will find a book case which has been knocked to the floor. You will see several books laying on the floor next to it. One of these books is the spawn for the Skeleton Book.

* Giant Mastery Book - Thundering Steppes
Where? First you need to take a Gryphon ride to the Steppes Station. Next, hop off and start heading west along the wall for a short ways until you see a large Waterfall. Head up the cave through those waterfall, to an iron gate that leads to Thundering Steppes.

Head out away from the zone and you should immediately see a small Gnoll camp ahead of you. Run out to the right and you will see a sleeping bag on the ground. Click and search it to aquire the Giants mastery book.

* Centaur Mastery Book - Thundering Steppes
Where? can be found in the western village in Thundering Steppes, in a bunk-bed next to a female Halfling NPC. The Village is called Thundermist.

* Elemental Mastery - South Qeynos
Where? You need to go to South Qeynos and head to the mage towers. Its the huge tower with the small pond around it, and a bridge in front. Go inside and walk into the red light to be transported to another floor of the tower. Head forward and down the stairs and you will find 3 NPCs. Two back against the wall, and one standing alone near the stairs. Near the one standing alone there are a few stacks of books.

* Shadowed Men Mastery Book - South Qeynos
Where? You need to go to South Qeynos and head to the mage towers. Its the huge tower with the small pond around it, and a bridge in front. Go inside and walk into the red light to be transported to another floor of the tower. Head forward and down the stairs and you will find 3 NPCs. To get the Shadowed Men book, search the the stack of books on top of the small table.

Enchanted Lands/Runnyeye Locations

* Evil-Eye Mastery - Enchanted Lands
Where? First you need to get to Runnyeye. On your map the entrance to Runnyeye will appear completely straight north of the docks. So head north, watching out for monsters and swaying east or west to work your way through the large wooden gates and hills you cannot climb. You should eventually come to a pond with a large rope bridge going over it and into a mountain. Head through here and you will find the entrance to Runnyeye.

You will need a group for this part. So you will probably just have to wait until you get in a group sometime that gets you close enough to where you can try to get to the book. Head out of the entrance hall and go LEFT. From there keep going through the tunnels through the only available paths. Soon you will come to a fork in the road. Go LEFT again and you will come to a large room with Golems spawning in it, and a large dark mass in the middle The metal pot labeled in the Image is actually for a quest to kill 200 goblins to get a great chest armor piece, so if you haven't gotten this quest, go examine the pot right now if you can.) Now, from here enter the room and turn LEFT to enter more tunnels. Then at the fork turn LEFT again and head down the hallway to this room with some ovens in it. Now in the corner to the right of the ovens is a metal box that you can examine to find the book.

* Nightblood Mastery Book - Rivervale
Where? From the docks in the Enchanted Lands you need to head to Rivervale. Its a short run, roughly to the east. You'll see a rope bridge heading up to the mountain, with a halfling guard standing at the base of it. Once inside look for this building called "The Loom" at around -180, x, -25. Inside you can find the boo by searching the shelves.

* Siren Mastery Book - Enchanted Lands
Where? Enter the Enchanted Lands through the Dock at Nektulos Forest. Now head to the left of the dock to enter this building. Now head into the back room and search this desk to get the Siren book.

* Goblin Mastery Book - Enchanted Lands
Where? Enter the Enchanted Lands through the Dock at Nektulos Forest. Run down off the dock, and turn left to follow the beach until you come to a large wooden wall. Next run up the wall, and you will see a large opening, with two sets of stairs. Go up the stairs on the right side, and inside you can get the Goblin book from this bookshelf.

Where? Exists and is located in a hidden zone near Rivervale.
