The Dreamer Has Come Home

By Clayton A. Stairs

Genesis 45:25-28

Everyone that has ever lived has had a dream. Some of them have come to pass while others haven't yet come to pass and some of them may never be fulfilled. There comes times when the dream must go through fire and be made totally pure.

In this setting, we are all familiar witht he lives of Jacob and Joseph. We have heard the stories before yet many times we truly miss the simplicity of their meaning. I want us to go in a different direction and see what the HolySpirit will show us.

Jacob - this is a symbol of who we are

Jacob had a difficult life. He was to blame for most of his troubles but God used each one of them to form him into the likeness of God. Jacob made covenant and God promised that a nation would be formed from him.

Covenant leads to a dream, a destiny or purpose. We become excited when we find purpose but we need to realize that we now have to walk out the purpose of God which is 10 times more difficult.

Jacob had Joseph (dreamer) whom he loves so much, however; Jacob began to exalt Joseph. Anytime that we begin to exalt our dream or purpose, it leads us to Egypt for a season to go through testing. Jacob began to worship his destiny instead of worshiping the Creator of destiny.

The Process

Jacob had a process to go through in order for his dream to be fulfilled.

  1. He was left empty - lonely, in despair
  2. He had to die to his desire - had to lay it down
  3. He had to let his desire go to prison - persecution

Destiny always has this process to go through. It has to die for the simple fact that our destiny has become full of self. Our destiny must be full of Christ.

Now, Some of us have given up on our dreams because it has caused us much pain. It has left us broken hearted. Some of us wonder if God has forgotten about us and His promise.

I want us to see something powerful --- God longs to and is restoring the dreamer back to the house -- the body of Christ. What does this mean?

  • house - symbol of who we are
  • dreamer - symbol of our purpose or destiny. It is Joseph.

Not only does God want to restore the dreamer to the house but when the dreamer is restored, the purpose and destiny will be fulfilled. It is not simply enough to revive the dream, there needs to be fulfillment.

Genesis 46:1-4
God will fulfill old dreams but He also longs to give us new dreams to dream.

Joel 2:28
God longs for us to dream in this hour. Dreamers are the ones who are successful.

Genesis 47:28
Notice the number 17.....br> 17 means victory.

Victory comes as we see fulfillment to our destiny. Answers are coming for us!!!
