- A call for feedback: Is anyone using JRedirect? The
website stats show that several people have downloaded
it, but I still haven't got a clue whether or not
anybody is actually using it. I'd be interested in hearing
all kinds of feedback (are the docs sufficient? any
features missing? any bugs? problems running it?).
If you feel like speaking out, mail to
scode@scode.webprovider.com.
- Well, I haven't gotten around to re-writing
the part of JRedirect that's causing the possible bug
mentioned below. However, I'm in the process of
implementing support for plugins, and once that's
done, I'll re-write the redirection code as a plugin
anyway, at which time the bug will be fixed.
As for the plugin support, it will mean JRedirect
will provide the command line interface, reading of
property files, thread pooling, and connection listening,
while everything else will be handled by plugins. The first
thing I'll implement, in addition to the usual
connection redirection supported by current versions
of JRedirect, will probably be FTP proxying, whenever
I get around to it.

- Someone has reported a bug concerning JRedirect
pre-maturely closing client connections under some
circumstances. I have never seen this myself but I
will investigate and attempt to duplicate the problem
as soon as possible (=in a few days, due to lack of
free time). Once the problem is fixed, I will release
1.0.3.

- One person has mentioned that he couldn't find the source
code in the download archive. I'd just like to tell
everybody that if you're looking for the source, it is in
the jredirect.jar that comes in the archive. I never bothered
making a separate src.jar (I will do so in the future however).

Bugs
There is one possible bug known at this time:
- JRedirect closes its connection to the client pre-maturely
in some circumstances. I haven't been able to reproduce it,
but someone reported having problems with that. I do
know what the problem is however. This bug will
be fixed in 1.1.0 (in the process of re-writing JRedirect's
current functionality in the form of a plugin - see the news
section for more on this).
