Info for MacIntosh users!

Vestu heil(l) ok sæl(l)!

This site is here to teach you to speak and understand the language of the viking age and medieval scandinavians. So far you can only find the main part of the grammar and a word list, but some day you will be able to find a complete beginner's course here. Until then you can visit Mal Vikinga – a beginner's course in runic swedish, which is basically the same language.

Grammar:
Some basic knowledge of grammars and grammatical terms is required to understand this, since I can't fully explain all grammatical terms here. When I find a link to a page that explains all the grammatical terms needed I will add a link here.
| nouns | verbs | adjectives | pronouns | numerals | prepositions | conjunctions | adverbs |

Phonology:
| spelling and pronounciation | umlaut and breaking | Werner's law |

Syntax: (coming soon)
nouns: | cases | definite vs. indefinite |
verbs: | diathesis | moods |

Words:
| word list | word formation and etymology (coming soon) | names |

Texts:
There is only one text available – the law of the medieval West Geats in Sweden. It's quite a difficult text, and it has not been normalized in any way. Old Icelandic sagas, poems and other texts are available on other sites on the Internet, and some links can be found on my link page to which there is a link below.

Other:
