THE DEFINITE ARTICLE
The definite article in ON. is inn. When it is used with an adjective it can be used just like the english the, but when used with a noun it is enclitic, i.e. it's placed after the noun and attached to it. The noun still has its normal inflected though. Thus 'the horse' is in O.N. hestrinn, but 'the black horse' is svarti hestrinn or inn svarti hestr.
Inn is inflected almost exactly like the possessive pronoun minn or adjectives ending with -inn, but when it's enclitic the vowel /i/ disappears after a vowel and in all plural forms except nom. and acc. plur. In the dat. plur. the /m/ of the noun ending disappears.
