adjectives: WEAK INFLECTION
The weak adjective inflection, used with definite nouns, has only four different endings, and they look very much like the n-stem noun endings (they are related).
As you can see auðigr uses the syncopated stem auðg- in all cases, since all endings begin with a vowel.

See the strong declension for examples.

The va-stem adjectives have a /v/ in front of all endings beginning with /a/ and /i/. See the strong declension for examples.
The ja-stem adjectives have a /j/ in front of all endings beginning with /a/ and /u/. See the strong declension for examples.
The ON (and germanic) weak adjectival paradigm has its origin in the n-stem inflection.
