About the book

Jennifer Babb was friendly enough to tell us about this book:

This book was actually written by Ursula's husband, who I hear is a history professor at Portland State University. It's the diary of Charles LeGuin's grandmother, who lived in Georgia around the turn of the century. I got a copy from Amazon.com. It's a fascinating book but not at all like anything Ursula has done. Magnolia is pregnant all the time and she leaves her property about once every 3 years. After I'd finished it, I took one of my birth control pills and thought, thank god for these.
