Rita Marley

Genre - Reggae

Rita Anderson was the leader of The Soulettes, a Studio One trio in 1964, when she met her husband-to-be Bob Marley. She recorded with two separate lineups of her group in the 60s, backed several early Wailers recordings, then became a solo artist before helping form The I Threes in 1974 (along with Marcia Griffith and Judy Mowatt) to back Bob on his world-spanning tours through 1980. Following her husband's passing in 1981, she had the biggest hit of her career, a frothy pro-ganja delight called "One Draw." She devoted the 80s to guiding her children's careers in The Melody Makers, and now that The Marley estate's legal battles have been mostly settled, she continues to showcase her teenage-high voice again.
