Northern Territory - Yulara
|
Yulara is a little place close to Ayers Rock where visitors can stay. There is a shopping centre with a few shops and lots of motels, hotels and backpackers places here.
Not very far from Yulara is one of the most known stones in the world, the magical Uluru or the Ayers Rock as it is more known as. The land around is just flat desert land and from nowhere is this red monolith looking up from the ground. Words cannot describe the feeling when you are standing there at the foot of Ayers Rock, it must be experienced.
Ayers Rock is about 3.6km long and 2km wide. If you want to walk around it, prepare yourself for a long walk, it is about 9.4km around the Rock. And if you decide to climbe it, it is about 345 metres to the top. Finally there, you will experience a marvelous view. Mt. Conner, 100km away can be seen without any trouble and other tops within a distance up to 150km can be viewed from the top.
Close to Yulara is also Mt. Olga or Kata Tjuta as it also is called. Unlike Ayers Rock, Mt. Olga is a collection of several tops.
About 300km from Yulara is the Kings Canyon. Spend a day there and walk around in the canyon and enjoy the fantastic landscape it offers. In the dry desert, you will find The Graden of Eden here. A sanctuary for the animals in the summer when the heat is on. Here there is water all year around.
