Western Australia - Denham / Monkey Mia

Dolphins at Monkey Mia Denham is almost the most west you can be in Australia. Denham is a well-known place because of its nearness to Monkey Mia, where tourists get a chance to get a close look at dolphins and maybe even feed them. The dolphins are wild dolphins are as they are fed at the same time every day, they keep on coming in to be viewed, photographed and admired by the tourists.

Just before Denham is a spectacular beach. This time it isn't soft and nice sandy beach, but a unique beach of tiny sea-shells. The beach is a few kilometres long and it is about 5 metres deep with only shells. The shells are tiny and beautifully, and if you are not collecting shells before, you will start now.

Closer to Denham than Shell Beach is Eagle Bluff, a habitat of sea eagles. It is also a place where people can stand and look out over the ocean or just walk around the sandy dunes.

Stromatolites, or "living rocks" as they are, can be found at Hamelin Pool. These stromatolites look like stumpy coral reefs that is found just under the surface of the sea and they are one of the oldest living things on earth. Walk around there and read more about these "oldies".

Denham is close to the most western point of the mainland of Australia. To go there, you must have a 4WD as the road there is not made for regular traffic.

More info and pictures will come soon.
