Wormhole 2.0 released!!!
- This
version of Wormhole can’t even be compared to earlier versions!
Everything, the entire program, has been re-programmed from scratch!!!
- New
GUI, Wormhole 2.0 now uses floating windows!
- New
layout for the color palette. Every color is located in a box
and sorted according to their material properties. Colors with
special properties such as player colors or flashing colors are
marked with a label.
- Added
the ability to use any colors you want in your liero levels, and
also any materials you want! To enable you to save these settings
I have created a new liero level format, the all-format or advanced
liero level format (the name and idea came from Tim Verweij!).
- Added
the ability to add new colors to your levels palette (up to 46
new colors).
- Added
the ability to load palette files (Microsoft Palette, pal) and
then use the colors found in the palette file in your level.
- Added
the ability to include level hacks in your levels, now your levels
can have different gravity, friction, ninja rope settings and
so on!
- Added
the ability to add level information like comments, author info
and more, into your levels.
- When
you are painting your levels in Wormhole 2.0 the bitmap created
during painting is now always a true 8-bit bitmap! In earlier
versions this was not the case and could result in the fact that
some colors was displayed wrong or was undetected when you created
and saved your level. This should now be a problem of the past.
- Added
“best color matching” when pasting or importing pictures/graphics
into Wormhole. This means that if the colors in your pictures
aren’t available in the palette of your level, the closest matching
colors are used instead, compared to earlier versions of Wormhole
where these colors was simply undetected and no color at all would
be used in the picture.
- Added
two new painting tools! A tool for zooming (a must when creating
gfx mods), that allows you to zoom up to 50x (!). Also added the
texture tool, which allows you to use a number of different textures
in your levels (textures provided by Tim Verweij!). A great tool
for creating good looking levels!
- Added
support for the “Windows Xp fix” for liero. Liero can only run
in Windows Xp when the sound has been disabled. Wormhole now automatically
detects if the user has Windows Xp and then disables the sound
in liero which enables you to launch liero again!
- Added
a “browser mode”. When Wormhole goes into browser mode all tool
windows disappear and instead a file browsing window appears.
When in browser mode it is really easy to browse and preview level
files and gfx mods, all is done directly in Wormhole. If you find
a level or gfx mod that you want to edit or play with in liero
you only have to hit one button and Wormhole will go back to “edit
mode” and load the selected file.
- Added
support for importing the most common picture formats like bmp,
jpg, gif and wmf (clipart) files, the closest matching colors
will be used. Also added support for more advanced importing with
8-bit bitmaps and level files (raw data).
- Added
the ability to export your levels. Levels can be exported as 8-bit
bitmaps with or without an attached color guide.
- The
undo function has been upgraded. You can now undo 4 times (just
like in ms paint), also added a redo function!
- The
paste function has also been upgraded. Pasted pictures now always
use the closest matching colors. This means there are no more
undetected colors when pasting pictures or graphics. I have also
added the ability to “Paste As New Object”, which means you can
now draw using pasted pictures and graphics in the same way as
you would when you use the object tool.
- Wormhole
will now always ask you if you want to save a previous file before
a new file are loaded or the program is closed.
- Support
for a number of new file formats like the all-format (advanced
liero level), powerlevels (version 1 and 2) and also chr files
(liero gfx mods)!
- Saving
and loading is now instant and doesn’t have any delay at all like
in earlier versions. This is thanks to my new faster code!
- New
improved setup program and readme file!
- New
about dialog! It’s really cool, shaped like a shield and is semi
transparent in =) take a look at it (semi transparent in Xp only)!
- Added
some example palettes and Photoshop images
- Added
example gfx mods
- Added
new example levels!
- And
much much more…!
Have fun!
