This is one of the more uneven albums Paul has released. It has one of his best songs ever, and
a couple of the most boring ones too.
Excellent:
Winter rose-Love awake - especially the "Winter Rose" bit is lovely, but it works very well as
a medley.
Very good:
To you - a nice little rock'n'roll song, with some cool musical backing.
Okay:
Spin it on - another rock'n'roll song with lyrics that are as ridiculous as anything Paul has
ever written.
Old Siam, sir - nice bass and keyboards save this song.
Arrow through me - this song is not bad at all, although it doesn't quite grab me. Paul sings
this in a quite unusual style.
So glad to see you here - more rock'n'roll, which is bogged down by the "We're Open Tonight"
bit at the end.
Baby's request - a nice 20s style song, which I like just because of the sentiment and the
lyrics.
Uninteresting:
Getting closer - Paul was not really aiming for a prize for best lyrics with this record. Quite
silly, this.
We're open tonight - short and not too exciting.
Again and again and again - probably the worst song Denny offered for Wings. It chugs along.
After the ball-Million miles - oh god, the accordion playing is awful. The "After the Ball" bit
is quite good, though.
Rockestra theme - semi-instrumental which never really takes off.
Boring:
Reception - no real music here. Supposedly, it symbolises the search for a good channel on the
radio.
The broadcast - okay, the poetry is quite nice, but this is not what I want to hear from
Paul.
