Gotland families
This database contains data on about 211 000 individuals who have lived on Gotland from the late 16th century until today. The data comes partly from my own research, partly from what other Swedish genealogists have compiled. The most important on-line sources have been DISBYT, Gotlands genvägar, The 1880, 1890 and 1900 Censuses, and a number of personal web pages. Several Gotland parish books (contemporary books with parish history) have also been used.
A special feature for this database is that all members are linked in some way, either through direct kinship or via siblings, remarriages etc.
Of course you can find some erroneous data which is what you can expect from such a large database with numerous sources. Therefore, I am anxious to stress that it is important to check data against the source (mainly Swedish church records). I appreciate all comments on errors, preferably together with correct data. All comments can be sent to olleoverby@gmail.com Data on new persons are accepted as long as they can be linked to the current tree. Major contributions should be sent in GEDCOM format.
It should be noted that farm names in many cases have been taken from Gotländskt vigselregister (Gotland marriages) and do not always reflect real birth place/farm name due to migration.
Download the GEDCOM file (ZIP-compressed) and import it into your own genealogy program.
