VW 1500 Type 3 -65
This is the car that im currently working on. I bought the car in august 2000 and i have been working on it ever since. The previous owner got tired of the car because of a bad paintjob.
After bringing the car into my garage Istarted to deasemble the front, I decided to start there and work my way to the rear end.
After some deasembling Ifound plenty of rust in the front end, as a matter of fact the front end was made with plastic filler (history repeats itself). Since there is hard to find repair panels for a type 3 in Sweden I had to build a new front from scratch, using the plastic filler as a template.
The front beam also needed some attention, after replacing the rusty parts with new sheet metal the welds where grinded smooth and then I painted the front beam black. Then Iput it back on the car with new bolts, nuts and washers.
When the front beam was back in its right place it was time to start with the interior. My plan for this car is to give it a "race-look", and i wanted the interior to be as clean as possible. It took me aprx. 4 weeks to get rid of all the underbody compound. The previous owner was as generous with this stuff as with plastic filler. Everything except the roof was under a thick layer of it...
