Il Balletto di Bronzo - "Sirio 2222"

A fine album I think! First track "Un Posto" reveals a very heavy band, fine and solid hardrock with great riffs and drumming. "Eh eh ah ah" is a strange track with blues and harmonica in there (I hate blues by the way). "Neve Calda" again recalls the very fast and hard force of the band, its not symphonic, not progressive but rather very good early 70's rock. The language seems misplaced to me, since I think this sounds very english for some reason. Im thinking of those early hardrock-bands I guess.
"Ma Ti Aspetterņ" also have great striking riffs and powerful drumming. So far I am pleased with this album, it can come of as a fine early 70's album with some hardrock-influences. Some screaming guitarsolos in there aswell. The drummer surely puts up a hardrocking 'groove', I like it!

"Meditazione" starts with some violins, then the singer enter over a gorgeous theme that could have been from Quella Vecchia Locanda and especially Rovescio della Medaglia. Then comes a harpsichord, adding to the classical feeling. "Incantesimo" is a slow and bluesy track, not comepletely to my taste. Just goes on and on, boring guitarsolo. "Ti Risveglierai Con Me" shows that 70's rock-feeling again, nice, good melody and refrain. Again that harmonica and bluesy influences enters here and there.

Last track, "Missione Sirio 2222" is almost 10 min long. It contains many different parts, starting with calmer and post-psychedelic themes and goes over into a more heavy and screaming 'groove'. A bit repetative and tedious perhaps, I dont like when it becomes to monotonous and heavy. And then, the calmer theme comes in again, bringing this album to a closure.
All in all its a fiarly good but sometimes rough debutalbum. I especially dislike the bluesy tendencies and when it becomes to heavy and repetitious. But I like the 70's rock feeling and the more accessable hardrock-sound very much. Of course, it cant be compared to YS in anyway, just see this as an aperitif to the masterpiece YS.
