HISTORY OF THE ROAD RUNNER !!

When the Plymouth Road Runner was introduced, it was on the " B-Body." It was lighter then the Cuda and the Challenger! And it was a compact car! The Road Runner was built around the "Satellite!" Plymouth did good and offered their low-budget muscle car at the right time along with a cool product name and their campaign. The Road Runner was not a weak car. It was a strong model. The Road Runner was the perfect combination of good, strong, tough looks and raw power. With first year sales expectations of around 44,599 units,

along with the increase in sales the '69 Road Runner earned the Motor Trend
"Car of the Year" award. The super bird was a racing model of the same car! Its fantastic that so many cars have survived. A Genuine Chrysler built car, that’s the answer!

A good number of options were available for the consumer who wanted a little extra. One Option for those who loved a fast car was of course the big 426 HEMI engine. It’s become standard with Air Grabber Induction System. It was very impressive to get a car with that power for a price under $4.000! The 440 Six-pack Engine was produced and it made 390hp! It’s was great engine for people who loved a fast car! The 69 Road Runner had sales around 84,420 units!

Aerodynamics weren’t the best though, so in 1969 they built the Dodge Daytona, and Plymouth built the Superbird in 1970. The mascara was using these models for some great wins! And they have been so successful even by today’s standards, and I can understand why! They built something we have never seen built before or since!

The Road Runner cartoon was a good promotion for the car! The car had a beep-beep horn! And on the Steering wheel a little Road Runner! On the rear spoiler of the Super bird you could find a huge Road Runner!

Dodge used a Super bee; it was a bumblebee with a helmet! The car was based on Coronet 440, often with heavy-duty shocks and stronger suspension, bigger brakes, and another hood. The wheel base was one inch more than the roadrunner!
