Split 7" w/ Offensive (2003) Profane Existence Five more songs of ripping thrash from Project Hopeless that are even better than on the "Utsatt" ep. The production is better, and the vocals are as unbelievable as ever. Offensive slow things down a bit leaning towards an evil crusty sound (ala Disrupt, Dystopi, etc) but with the production lacking a bit. Still a good split ep. (Jordan) PH Comment: Even better, that's great to hear, it would have been pretty sad if it would go backwards, hope the comming stuff will be as apreciated as this. My last chapter I have a new won respect for Project Hopeless after seeing them live. I appreciated their music a lot more live then I've done/still do on a record. And I gotta say, Oskar (Project Hopeless/Not Enough Records) is one of the nicest persons involved in the punk/DIY movement. You can't help but to love him! I've kind of hammered PH right into the ground with their earlier releases, but this is such an improvement! The first four songs are just a huge improvement from before, taking their sound to the next level. But then the last song comes on and I'm ecstatic! I mean: Holy crap! I just love that song. It's angst filled like hell with fucking excellent guitar riffs and just kick-ass music and lyrics. I really hope they will do more songs like this, then I would adore this band! Their side of the record is very good hardcorepunk the way you were used to hearing it back in the 80ies, you know what I mean. Offensive's side of the record was a huge surprise. I didn't really like their debut, "Human Machine", but this is a lot better. Two vocalists with pretty mad screams and occasionally thrown in growls. It's a live recording, with pretty decent sound, and I don't know if that's the reason for me liking this a lot more than earlier. It sounds heavier than before. That's something I disliked about "Human Machine", lame sound and too much punk, too little crust. But, yeah. This was a nice surprise. Hope they'll evolve into a heavier and faster crust band, and that they'll use more growls! 7/10 PH Comment: Thanx for the great words, it's always nice to hear good things about anything and everything. Attack! Fanzine A new recording from Project Hopeless and I like this better than the previous stuff I've heard. I'd still like to see a few adjustments production wise but the material is better now. The sound is a little too distorted though. But like with all records with a minus in the production and as plus in the songwriting your don't care about the minus after a while. It's fast, but not chaotic, raw and unpolished and definitely leaves me waiting for what's to come. Offensive then. Well, if I was disappointed with the first 7", what can I say about this? It's three tracks from a half good/half bad live recording with some mistakes. OK, it's not crap but I'm not in the mood for this. Let's put it like this, for each time I listen to the crusty to fast side of Offensive - I will give Project Hopeless three listens. [Krogh] PH Comment: Not to bad, it's nice to hear some positive oppinions about the records and this is defenately a great word, we'll see what the future holds, and if anyone will like it. |
