What's it like in Dallas/Ft.Worth?

I went to visit Bob Wakefield in Dallas, Texas, in May 1997. We met through the Sheltie List and corresponded a lot over eMail. Bob helped me to get started with my web-pages. Actually, I had no idea of how to get pages up in the air for you to read before he explained it all to me. Bob proved a great teacher. He's a Programmer, so he should know these technical things... I'm more of a designer, I want the pages to look nice. Together we may start something!

Bob lives in Dallas, the city which is mostly famous for having had a President shot here on the 22 of November in 1963. There is a special museum in memoriam of John F Kennedy. It is privately owned. You're not allowed to take pictures in there.

Dallas is a very special city, at least in the eyes of a Swede. Look at these buildings all of steel and glass. They are all office buildings in down-town Dallas. I took the photo through the car window. It turned out rather good.

Down-Town Dallas

There is a very nice sight in Dallas you must not miss out on. It's in the fashionable area Las Colinas. It's called the mustangs of Las Colinas and is a set of statues of horses running in a fountain. Some of the horses are on the plaza, like the little one who's tail Bob is pulling on the picture on my links page. Most of them are running through the water.

Dallas and Ft. Worth are two cities that are rapidly growing closer together towards one another. They are only separated by the Airport, which is situated in between them. We went to see the Water Park in Ft. Worth which was very nice.

My sister told me about this park. There are three different sets of fountains. The above pictured one was the largest. This is obviously a place newly wed people like to go to, to have their wedding picture taken. You can see its huge!

Sonja in Ft. WorthWe also went to have a look at the South Fork ranch of course. A must when visiting Dallas. You know, where they shot scenes for that soap-opera with the same name as the city? That picture is, however, on the film which is not yet developed. It might end up here later on if it turned out.

This last picture shows me pointing towards one of those office buildings in Ft. Worth mirroring the sky in its glass facing.

Gosh was Dallas/Ft.Worth hot. Outdoor it was hot, indoor it was so drafty! I got a terrible cold when I came home to Sweden after a week in this climate! It will, however, not stop me from going back.

And oh, there are some pictures Bob took of me with his Sheltie Boo and of us together, at his web-site, if you want to see more pictures.
