I wrote an article for the Swedish Shetland Sheepdog Club Handbook 1997. It is the history of the very first Swedish Sheltie breeders in Sweden: the Hauffmans of the Shepherd's kennel. The article links to pictures and pedigrees of the very first Swedish Shelties imported to Sweden.

I've received copies of some really interesting historical articles from around the turn of the century. It's articles published in the Collie Folio in 1908 - 1909. Madeleine Lund, Starbelle Shelties, received these from Mrs Irish Combe, when she visited Crufts in 1997.

The early breeders of Shetland Sheepdogs were met with great resistance from mainly the Collie breeders because they wanted to name the breed Shetland Collie. These articles clearly show how much hatred there actually was in those early days of our breed.
