Prologue
"What?" the girl asked. "It can't be right. You must be mistaking! It can't be!" The terrified look in her eyes startled him. "Sorry, ma'am, it's not a mistake."
The young girl looked lost. What am I going to do? she thought. Especially now, that we aren't even together.
"Ma'am?" The doctor's voice woke her back from her thoughts. "Ma'am? Are you alright?"
She looked up at him, tears filling her eyes. Am I alright? Am I really? She thought to herself
The doctor seemed concerned. He didn't understand the true weight of what he just told her. Usually, when he told other girls he would receive smiles. Even hugs and kisses. But not the girl before him. She was crying. And these weren't tears of joy.
