The Alan Parsons Project - The Albums

It started quite a while ago, I think it was in the year of 1984. I had barely discovered the pleasure of listening to music, when my sister gave me a tape with some songs she thought I'd like. There among Genesis, Bryan Adams, Murray Head, Deep Purple, Yes, Chris DeBurgh etc was one short little instrumental tune, that I just couldn't get out of my head. It was called Sirius, followed by Eye In The Sky ... and that's the way the story goes.

This section of my Parsons Pages is a listing of The Alan Parsons Project - and related - albums in my record collection. I guess you could call it a sort of discography, though it is not - by far - a complete listing of all APP albums. Instead I've tried to give it a little personal touch. I've divided the discography in four sections:

The Alan Parsons Project Albums
These are the "classical" APP albums with Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson (and Ian Bairnson, Stuart Elliot, Andrew Powell, David Paton and all the others of course...). The albums are featuring vocalists such as John Miles, Lenny Zakatek, Colin Blunstone, Chris Rainbow, Elmer Gantry and many many others.
Alan Parsons Albums
Today Eric has left the band for his own carrer in the stage musical business. But the band continues to record Alan Parsons Albums. Most of the material is written by Ian(!) and has featured vocalists such as David Pack, Chris Thompson and Cristopher Cross. BTW, "You're The Voice", which is cowritten by Chris Thompson, was a monster hit sung by the Australian John Harnham in the late 80s. "On Air" was one of the first albums (if not the first) to include a free CD-ROM.
Eric Woolfson Albums
In the 90s, Eric has gone his own way. He has written three stage musicals so far: Freudiana, Gaudi and Gambler, where the two latter feature quite a few songs from various APP albums. Gaudi and gambler are in fact both running in Germany!
Compilation Albums
Several "best of" albums have been released over the years, two last year actually ("Prime Time" in Germany and "The Definitive Collection"). There are in fact two versions of the "Best Of ... Volume 2" compilation.
