MQWCL - More QuakeWorld Client ver. 0.96 release notes ============================== This is mqwcl version 0.96. Probably this is not a version you heard about, with eye-candy improvements yet. But work on next mqwcl version takes longer and longer. And there is a need for new version, because of some bugs in v. 0.95, especially client security issues and cheating issues. Not to mention about legality of mqwcl. In general this is mqwcl 0.95, with few fixes applied, and very few new features. And finally, with source released. Mqwcl 1.0 version, with full documentation, is still a work in progress. Another good thing in this release is support for Linux, as there were no 0.95 for linux. Linux is fully supported, with full f_version authentication, and with greatly improved GLX version. Client authentication introduced in version 0.95 allows mqwcl to be free of cheats and modified versions, with published source, which is a requirement for its compliance with GPL. This prooved to work fine, except some bugs in f_version, which sometimes (and sometimes pretty often) caused legal clients to not be authenticated. This is fixed and I believe it will work fine now. If you encounter any problems with this stuff, report them immediately, as they have high priority. Many TF players asked for features, which would make mqwcl a legal TeamFortress client. For now, it is consider cheaty in TF. Problems reported are always the same: dead body filter, colour forcing and skin forcing with fullbright skins. This stuff didn't fit into this release, sorry. I plan to change it in next version, so be patient. Colour and skin forcing, as well as fb_skins can all be blocked by server (with FPD), so I suggest you use it for now on servers, which allow mqwcl. Since the end of April, there is a forum, where you can discuss about mqwcl, report problems and ask for new features. Also, don't hesitate to ask, if you have general QuakeWorld problems, someone will help you to get into this great game for sure. Recently forums for QWEX (http://ktpro.does.it) and KTPto (http://ktpro.does.it) were added, and all those forums are now available in one place. So this is a great place to visit if you are interested in development in QuakeWorld, or just need help. Visit: http://mqwcl.qhlan.org/forum I'd like to say sorry to all ppl that put some work into mqwcl, as you were not credited anywhere so far. I know most of you don't care about this, but this is pretty important for me, and it will come with mqwcl documentation in next version. Check 096news.txt file for description of changes in this release. azazello
