Meretrish
African walnut table with mermaid sculpture and background
relief made of Finnish Birch.
Poseidon, lord of the Sea, is furious with the approaching Vikings
because he is jealous and believes that his beloved Meretrish might
fall in love with anyone of them. In his fury he creates a wild storm
and rises above the sea to invoke havoc with the aid of thunder and
lightning. The magnificence of his power is shown in the way his fury
and anger are controlled so that they simply affect the Vikings but
leave Meretrish safe and secure in her peaceful and oblivious waiting.
