The woodcarving captures a moment in the life of Teha´amana - Paul Gauguins´(1948 - 1903) wife from his stay in the island of Noa Noa (Tahiti). She has just received a letter from her husband - now in Europe, telling her that he will always love her and will soon be back. She remembers his descriptions of Paris and thinks of him with true love.
