Doris,
love & Society
Relief woodcarving made from Birch (background) and
Pine(Doris, the lady).
This carving captures the struggle of Doris with morality. She loves
dearly her husband but at the same time loves in a different but
equally strong way her lover, whom she is embracing. Can it be that
true love is only meant for one person?
The parrot in the background represents society, ready to chatter and
criticize whatever is different. A Unicorn represents the right choice
that Doris will make about her future if she is strong enough to follow
her hearts desire. Her lover is dressed as a joker because he feels
like a fool with the situation.
